New Guidance on Food Advertising! The Committees of Advertising Practice (CAP and BCAP) have issued new guidance that restricts the advertisement of less healthy food and drink. This means that even adverts without direct references to less healthy products may still fall under the restrictions if the branding is closely associated with such products. This year we marked International Women’s Day 2025 in several different ways. We hosted an external panel discussion with inspirational women from various sectors “Exploring AI and Gender: Shaping the Future Together" coordinated and hosted by our gender equality network, Balance. We also ran a national clothing donation drive to support Smart Works Charity, which helps unemployed women to get the clothing, coaching and confidence they need to secure much-needed employment. In addition to this two of our Balance committee members – Charis Brown and Emma Foulds – interviewed our Board Ally for gender equity, Stephen Porter, to discuss his role and the activity taking place to further our commitment to gender equality. Here are some of his key reflections from the conversation: ? “For me the Board Ally role has three main areas of focus: understanding the big picture and what the data is saying about gender; amplifying Balance network activity, and having an open mind to developing my personal understanding about the challenges and opportunities for women at Shoosmiths.” ? “There are many activities taking place within the business at the moment to further the firm’s commitment to gender equality – it’s a real focus for our senior leaders and at the forefront of people’s minds (for example in Board and Shadow Board discussions).
