We visited ASDF and loved their long term focus and community investment. They’re doing brilliant work both on the technology side and the way they get communities to own their investment in resilience.
?? From Barren to Beautiful! ?? ?? Meet Patricia Mutunga, a passionate farmer who saw potential in her land located at Uiini village, Ngoni sub-location, Kisau location, Mbooni East sub-county of Makueni county.? Her determination to change the land has not been pulled down by her age.? Instead of leaving the land at the mercy of erosion, she took matters into her own hands and started terracing. ?? Step by step, she carved out layers, transforming steep slopes into beautiful, flat terraces. ?? with each terrace, she hopes to retain water better, prevent soil erosion, and create space for planting trees, land herbs, and other crops. The farm benefits not only her but also the community at large, as she has employed four casual men to help in making the terraces. Patricia is ready to plant even more with her newly terraced farm covering 1701 meters, knowing she’s created something beautiful and beneficial for her land. Here’s to farming smarter, not harder! ???? In her words: It wasn't easy, but as Patricia says, "If you care for the land, it will care for you." Her hard work is going to make made a corner of the world a greener, more sustainable place. ???? #FarmingWithPurpose ##SustainableAgriculture

This recent #WorldMeteorologicalAssociation press release makes the impact and burden of climate change clear. As they state, "On average, African countries are losing 2–5 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and many are diverting up to 9 percent of their budgets responding to climate extremes."
