关于我们
The Supportive Housing Network of New York is a membership organization representing 200 nonprofit organizations that have collectively created more than 50,000 units of supportive housing across New York State. Our membership also includes more than 150 affiliate agencies and corporate members. The Network is the largest member organization of its kind in the U.S., and the leading national voice for supportive housing. Founded in 1988, the Network's mission is to increase the public's understanding of supportive housing; share best practices that continually improve supportive housing's effectiveness; and, most importantly, encourage the creation of enough supportive housing to end homelessness among the most vulnerable New Yorkers. The Network works toward these goals through advocacy, training, technical assistance, public education, research, and policy analysis.

Last week the Network was thrilled to join colleagues at Housing Solutions of New York' SEEN Symposium and The Alliance for Rights and Recovery (formerly NYAPRS)'s Conference. At SEEN, Network Executive Director Pascale Leone spoke on the panel "Bridging the Gap: Policy and Advocacy for Affordable Housing Solutions to End Homelessness," where she grounded the conversation stating, "We are in one of the richest countries and states in the world. Budgets are statements of priorities. If we are serious about ending the homelessness crisis, we need to invest in housing.” She also made the important distinction between #supportivehousing and shelter, stating that supportive housing is permanent housing, providing individuals and families with a home in combination with support services. Adding that it needs more funding for higher rates in order to fully fund units, staff and services.

We’re thrilled to announce that Thaiasia Johnson, MSW, Program Director at The Anderson and The Morris, two of our supportive housing sites in the Bronx,?was selected to participate in the Supportive Housing Network of New York Readying Emerging Leaders in Supportive Housing (RELISH) program. RELISH is a leadership development program that aims to prepare Black emerging leaders in the nonprofit homeless and housing sector for upward mobility. Discussing what this opportunity means to her, Thaiasia stated, “‘I am worth the investment’" is the affirmation that motivates me to feed my ambition. My acceptance to the Reading Emerging Leaders in Supportive Housing (RELISH) leadership development program, the support of my supervisor, and the financial support from New Destiny Housing have reaffirmed this message. This opportunity will empower me to confidently lead in my role as a program director and in the nonprofit homeless and housing sector. I am grateful to New Destiny Housing and the Supportive Housing Network for providing a safe space with a relatable community to develop my leadership skillset and build my network. I am excited to begin the program.”

Last week we joined Correct Crisis Intervention Today NYC (CCIT-NYC) to rally outside of City Hall to call for a peer-led, non-police mental health crisis response system. We then joined fellow advocates and members to testify at the City Council Oversight Hearing on mental health crisis response and the B-HEARD pilot programs to urge the City to make significant changes to the program: ensure peers on response teams, route calls through 988 vs. 911 & fully fund to operate 24/7. Thank you to our champions and partners for your advocacy!
