?? Missed deliveries do more than cause headaches. They can shape how buyers feel about your brand. No one wants to wait for a package that never arrives. When that happens, trust starts to slip away. Myth #1: Missed deliveries only matter if they happen often.?? Reality: Even a single slip-up can make a customer question your reliability. Carrier rate increases can feel like a tough blow to your shipping budget. The good news is you can do more than just accept higher fees. How can businesses handle these increases effectively? ? Check your invoice data. Are you getting charged for services you don’t use or for unexpected surcharges? Catching these adds transparency and can prevent surprise costs.? ? Negotiate or renegotiate. Don’t assume your carrier’s initial quote is final. Show them your shipping volumes and ask for a discount or a better deal on volume-based tiers.? ? Explore new carriers. Trying a second or third provider can give you a backup plan if your main option hikes rates again. Keep track of service quality and timeliness to see if the alternative is worth scaling up.? ? Optimize packaging and shipping zones. If you often ship lightweight items in large boxes, you might be paying more than necessary. Find ways to right-size your shipments and ship from locations that bring packages closer to their destination. Focus on data, flexibility, and teamwork with your carriers. By watching every fee, testing new options, and streamlining your process, you can push back on rising costs and keep your customers satisfied. What strategies have helped you handle rate increases? Share your thoughts or questions below.? #Ecommerce #B2BShipping #Logistics #UPS #FedEx #CarrierRates #ShippingTips #SupplyChain #BusinessTalk

Big changes are coming to USPS. A new partnership with Elon Musk’s DOGE means 10,000 jobs cut and billions in budget reductions. For parcel shippers, this could mean: ? Longer delivery times with a smaller workforce ? Potential cost increases as USPS adjusts operations ? More pressure on alternative carriers like FedEx and UPS This follows USPS’s move to cut discounts for consolidators, which already raised concerns about pricing and service. Less capacity, fewer discounts, and operational shake-ups—what does this mean for your shipping strategy? https://lnkd.in/gcd6cJSs

Unexpected bi-product of the tariff uncertainty--- E-Comm businesses are rushing shipments earlier than usual to dodge potential tariffs and related disruptions. This can strain parcel carrier networks and can cause some heartburn for delivery date planning. So far, experts say warehouses aren’t feeling a major pinch, but that could change if more companies follow suit. Here’s what to watch: ? Inventory storage. Frontloading means you’ll need space and a plan for longer dwell times.? ? Cash flow. Tying up funds in goods that arrive months ahead can impact your budget.? ? Carrier relationships. Lock in reliable service now, before capacity tightens. ?? ? Data monitoring. Keep an eye on shipping costs and delivery times to stay agile if tariffs shift.? This “ship-early” approach could become the new norm whenever tariff uncertainty crops up. Smart planning enables you to keep costs in check and avoid last-minute supply chain chaos. If you haven’t already, consider reviewing your warehouse capacity and aligning with carriers who can handle these early deliveries without charging a fortune. ?? Shipping delays happen. The usual result: frustrated shoppers who keep asking that big question: “Where is my order?” Luckily, there are ways to lower WISMO calls and emails. Myth #1: “A simple tracking link solves everything.”?? Reality: Far from reality. People want timely, detailed updates. Let them know when their package leaves the warehouse, hits a regional center, and heads out for final delivery. If arrival times shift, say so. Clarity beats confusion. Myth #2: “Automation alone does the trick.”?? Reality: We wish. Automated messages help, but a personal note can soothe worries when something goes wrong. If there’s a delay or unexpected issue, a quick, human touch shows you care. Proactive transparency is your secret weapon. Let customers see each step between the shipping dock and their doorstep. Keep them from feeling left in the dark by offering self-service tools and real-time tracking links. Fewer surprises mean fewer WISMO inquiries. This approach frees up your support team and builds trust with your audience. When people know what’s going on, they ask fewer questions and feel more confident in buying again. What’s one way you keep shoppers from asking that dreaded question? #shipping #WISMO #logistics #customerservice #b2b #ecommerce

FedEx is consolidating its Express and Ground operations, leading to closures or reduced staff at certain ship centers this month. This decision is part of their ongoing effort to unify networks and streamline operations. What does it mean for FedEx + customers? ? Merging lanes might bring cost efficiencies, but it could also shift carrier capacity in certain regions. ? Fewer ship centers could mean longer routes or potential delays for some customers. ? If you depend heavily on FedEx, consider how these changes impact your volumes and explore backup solutions. In the long run, modernization can deliver better speed and cost control for both FedEx and shippers. Still, it’s wise to keep an eye on how these adjustments affect real-world performance. Having accurate shipping data and flexible carrier options is key to staying ahead in times of carrier consolidation. ?? UPS and FedEx have offered $100 in loss / damage protection…. Since the late 80’s.??? It’s time to up the baseline, included coverage amount.?Here’s why: Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, $100 went further, and the average shipped item’s value was significantly lower. Fast-forward to now: inflation has nearly halved the purchasing power of $100, and the average cost of many shipped goods has easily doubled or tripled since 1990. Most notably: Inflation: $100 in 1989 equates to roughly $240 today. Commodity Flow Survey Data: The per-pound value of freight has more than doubled since the early 1990s. E-commerce Boom: Average order values are often above $100–$120, which means a single lost or damaged item is likely to exceed default coverage. I’m putting together a white paper on the topic and would love to hear from some others in the space.? Should the carriers change their position here, or is $100 a fair coverage level in 2025??

Enterprise eComm: there's one KPI that could be costing your company millions. And you're probably not tracking it. If you’re shipping high volumes, there’s one KPI that often slips under the radar: unresolved loss and damage claims. Everybody knows that you can file a claim with your carrier if they fail to deliver your shipment intact. But most don't track how many claims are "orphaned" with the carrier, due to (1) improper dispositioning or (2) no response to a carrier's request for claims details. At ShipScience, we've seen orphaned claims commonly add up to thousands—sometimes millions—draining your bottom line. Fortunately, a few smart steps can plug the leak: ? File it right the first time. Make sure all claims have ALL info needed for the carrier to approve the claim. ? Automate your documentation: Manual paperwork is a hassle, and overlooked details can bury valid claims. Use tech tools to log damage, delivery confirmations, and photos. ShipScience is particularly good at this. ? Stay current on carrier policies: Claim windows and documentation requirements can change over time; missing them means missing out on reimbursements. ? Download status updates from the carriers regularly: A well-organized paper trail makes it easier to see which claims you're missing payment for or have been declined due to a lack of response from your side. Those can be reopened/disputed. Regaining this lost revenue doesn’t have to disrupt your entire operation—and it can be game-changing. Think of the extra budget you could unlock for growth initiatives, team expansion, or refining your processes. Have you dug into your orphaned loss or damage claims before? #Logistics #Transportation #ClaimsManagement #ParcelShipping #KPI #BusinessGrowth #B2BShipping #ShippingInsurance #SupplyChainManagement

Talk about some unpaid invoices!! ??????

FedEx is making headlines by suing MyPillow CEO Michael Lindell for unpaid shipping invoices—reportedly around $9 million. This isn't pocket change. Whether you’re shipping pillows or anything else, this highlights the strain on both shippers and carriers that can happen over billing disputes. These types of disagreements can put a serious dent in cash flow and potentially sour relationships with carriers. In an industry where on-time delivery and cost control are everything, alignment with carriers on billing is critical to keep your packages moving smoothly. A few quick insights: ? Always review your invoices: Hidden fees or complex surcharges can add up fast.? ? Keep good records: Document shipping agreements, volumes, and rates to avoid “he said, she said” scenarios.? ? Communicate often: If costs start snowballing, address them before they land you in court.? As e-commerce keeps expanding, fine-tuning logistics operations is non-negotiable. What looks like a minor billing question today can become tomorrow’s legal battle if left unchecked. A proactive approach—regular accounting reviews, transparent negotiations, and solid forecasting—can help you dodge surprises and preserve trust with carrier partners.
