I’m so proud of these young mariners! Today, at the SHIPPINGInsight 2024 conference, students shared their experiences at the most unique Maritime Career and Technical Education High School. Students discussed the next generation's perspective on maritime workforce development, stressing the need for rigorous work-based learning experiences through internships, sitevisits and hands on boating skills. We’re honored to have our students network with industry leaders in the maritime field. Thank you, Carleen Walker, for your relentless efforts to engage the next generation of mariners! Rear Admiral John Okon, we appreciate your astute comments on recruitment and diversifying the industries workforce. We're excited to grow our long-standing partnership with the State University of New York Maritime College as we embark on the PTECH program next year, enrolling 30 NY Harbor School students in a dual-credit, six-year program leading to an associate's degree and limited USCG license. It was a privilege to have Murray Fisher, founder of the New York Harbor School, offer insights on creating the school to connect young people to the water. How amazing to see the success over the years! We have come a long way from Bushwick Brooklyn. #shippinginsight #newyorkharborschool #maritimecareers #Careerandtechnicaleducation #nycpublicschools #billionoysterproject #namepa Molly Dushay Michael Hojnacki Jackye Stephenson Mike Cohen Davere Hanson North American Marine Environment Protection Association - NAMEPA NYC Department of Education NYC Mayor's Office of Talent and Workforce Development NYC Department of Education
