We're proud to celebrate the delivery of the second National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV), PATRIOT STATE, to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. On her first night in port, the PATRIOT STATE was greeted by the awe-inspiring northern lights, illuminating the sky in a dazzling display. A fitting welcome for a vessel that’s set to transform U.S. maritime training. With its cutting-edge technology, the PATRIOT STATE will empower cadets to gain hands-on experience and prepare to lead the future of the global maritime industry. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen—your dedication is helping secure the future of the U.S. Merchant Marine! ?

The Shipbuilders Council of America honored U.S. Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) with the SCA Maritime Leadership Award. This award recognizes national leaders who show outstanding support for the U.S. shipbuilding and repair industry. ??????

SCA President Matthew Paxton opines in Breaking Defense about the necessity of strengthening the U.S. shipbuilding industry by investing domestically rather than outsourcing to foreign shipyards. He argues that to maintain global maritime dominance and address the growing threat from China’s expanding navy, the U.S. must build and repair its naval fleet within the country. "There is a lot at stake. Our sailors safeguard the seas and protect the livelihoods of everyday Americans and billions around the globe. America’s sailors deserve the best ships we can provide them — those ships are built and maintained in America by American workers in American shipyards.
