Safety isn’t just a slogan; it’s how we work every day. Our goal on every project is simple: zero injuries, and that starts with eliminating at-risk behaviors. At our annual Safety Conferences, our dedicated safety professionals joined forces with field leaders and crews to focus on identifying and stopping unsafe actions before they lead to harm. To bring the message to life, we brought back a crowd favorite, the PB&J exercise. Volunteers had to give step-by-step sandwich-making instructions, and the results were hilarious. The takeaway? Every task requires careful planning and clear communication to get it done safely. We heard from a mental health expert about recognizing when employees are struggling and how to support them in tough times. Our team also got a hands-on look at the effects of impairment by attempting to stack cups while wearing impairment goggles. It was a powerful reminder of why a drug- and alcohol-free job site is critical. At the end of the day, safety is everyone’s responsibility. Every person, every task, every step matters. ???? #SafeAndAccidentFree

A huge congratulations to the team at Pittsburgh International Airport working on the Roads & Bridges portion of the Terminal Modernization Program for earning our safety trophy! Every year, the team with the highest number of hours worked without an injury gets recognized at the Safety Conference and receives the Zero Injury Cup. Their dedication to safe work practices is an outstanding achievement and we thank them for setting the standard for safety excellence! In addition to the Pittsburgh International Airport project, there were 17 other projects within the Company that worked injury free in 2024. ??

Great pictures of a Fay, S&B USA Construction demolition project! Read more about the project details here ?? https://lnkd.in/e52A8PVF
A historic demolition! After more than a century of use, the #PittsburghDistrict has begun demolishing the #Monongahela Locks and Dam 3, also known as the #Elizabeth Locks locally. We completed the dam removal last year using explosives and heavy machinery on a fleet, and we began dismantling the lock chamber this year. The first phase is removing the miter gates. The work to demolish and remove the lock chambers completed is expected to last until Spring 2027. The locking facility in Elizabeth had been in operation since 1907. Originally the dam served to raise the river’s depth to allow large towboats to transport commodities on the river year-round, but due to the facility’s aging infrastructure and upgrades made to other locks and dams on the Monongahela River, the Elizabeth-based locks and dam became more of a navigation obstacle than a benefit. Removing the dam from the river helped eliminate an aging bottleneck that required costly maintenance repairs and caused commercial boats with large tows to slow down through this portion of the river. Removing the locks and dam is part of the decades-long Lower Monongahela River Project, which provides $200 million in economic benefits to navigation industries annually. ?? by Michel Sauret

It was great to give back to the community and to help high school students learn about family-sustaining careers in construction! Read the article below for more details.
We are beyond grateful for the generosity of S&B USA Construction & Fay for their $50,000 grant to support three of our very important school programs—High School Urban EcoStewards, Habitat Explorers and Park Explorers! This will allow our Urban EcoStewards students to experience a one-of-a-kind learning experience with a visit to the Commercial Street Bridge replacement project construction site. This hand-on learning opportunity will teach them how green infrastructure and environmental sustainability intersect and the role community engagement plays, too. ? Thank you to S&B USA for your investment in our leaders of tomorrow and a greener future!??? https://lnkd.in/e6usrMBb

Here’s to building even more together in the years ahead! ??
