Fay, S&B USA Construction is in the first phases of replacing the I-376 Commercial Street Bridge in Pittsburgh. By using accelerated bridge construction techniques to build a new bridge beside the existing structure, we’ll minimize traffic disruption on this key corridor between the eastern suburbs and downtown. ? The project also spans two major conservation efforts: Frick Park and Nine Mile Run stream. To protect these natural attractions, Fay: ? ·?Temporarily moved the hiking trail ·?Installed compost filter socks along the stream’s floodplain to prevent sediment and pollutants from entering the water ·?Built a small, temporary bridge to allow equipment to cross over the stream ·?Piled trees and brush cleared from the project site for wildlife to use during construction ? Once the new bridge is complete, Fay will restore the site by planting over 5,000 trees and shrubs—well beyond what was originally cleared!
