*One* of our current projects is working with NC SBI to equip law enforcement officers statewide with the training they need to identify and effectively respond to a human trafficking situation. So many LEO have admitted to us that they don’t feel prepared to tackle human trafficking with only the 2 hours of training they get with BLET. Providing LEO with regular mandatory training and then holding them accountable seems so basic, yet it’s not being done. We are 9th in the country for the number of cases reported to the national human trafficking hotline. It’s time to make human trafficking a priority! We are watching this legislation closely.

Today I finished Authoring what I aim to be the first of many Bills to better protect Human Trafficking Victims of ALL ages, but especially our children. What initially inspired me to begin this project was my own experience of being used as a lure by local law enforcement over 10 years ago. By the Grace of God I am still here standing before you today. There were many times I feared for my life. There were many times I was left for dead on hells door step. There were many times I wished I was dead. Beside my own experience another case that has downright demanded me to TAKE ACTION WISCONSIN V. KIZER Viewable Here https://lnkd.in/gExv-zVA Kizer WAS IDENTIFIED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AS A VICTIM long before she took matters into her own hands… Not only did law enforcement fail to investigate- They failed to save her and countless other children from continued sexual abuse and exploitation at the hands of Randall Volar. TAYLORS LAW WILL PROVIDE: ??Accountability for Police: Police must respond to reports of human trafficking. If they don’t, they can face fines or even jail time. ??Heavy Penalties for Gross Negligence: Officers can get serious fines and penalties, especially if it involves children. ??Mandatory Training: All police officers must go through yearly training on human trafficking and how to support victims. Learn how to effectively collect data. ??Working with Child Services: Police will team up with child protective services to handle cases involving kids more effectively. ??Public Awareness: Campaigns will inform the public about recognizing and reporting human trafficking. Importance of Data Collection ??Improving Decisions: Data helps police understand and tackle human trafficking better. ??Holding Police Accountable: An independent group will check police actions to ensure they follow the law. ??Ongoing Improvement: Regular reports will help identify what's working and what to improve. ??Raising Awareness: Sharing data with the public encourages more people to help prevent human trafficking. In summary, Taylor’s Law focuses on making police accountable, ensuring they get proper training, and raising public awareness, all while mandating the collection of data to improve responses to human trafficking.
