The East Tennessee State University SHFM Student Chapter had the exciting opportunity to tour a comprehensive, full-service hotel, where they explored both the Back of House (BOH) and Front of House (FOH) areas. During the visit, the students engaged with the hotel’s leadership team, who shared valuable insights into the hospitality industry. They had the chance to discuss various career paths within the hotel sector, learn about the skills necessary for success, and gain a deeper understanding of the transferrable skills that can be applied across different roles and industries. The East Tennessee State University SHFM Student Chapter had the honor of attending and supporting the High School Culinary Competition a few weeks ago. The event took place at the iconic Bristol Motor Speedway, where the club was actively involved in providing support for eight talented high school culinary teams from the area. It was an exciting and inspiring day, watching these young chefs showcase their skills and creativity in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. The club was thrilled to be a part of this wonderful opportunity to encourage and celebrate the next generation of culinary talent. East Tennessee State University proudly joined our network as one of our newest student chapters, officially launching late last year. To kick off their involvement, the ETSU SHFM Chapter hosted an engaging tabling event on January 27th. The event was a great success in raising awareness about the chapter and encouraging new members to join, strengthening the community and the future of the organization. We're excited to see the continued growth and enthusiasm from the ETSU team! #shfmfoundation? #ETSUteam? #hospitality #foodservice

Society For Hospitality and Foodservice Management (SHFM) President Shayne Varnum recently met with new SHFM Student member Emma Wells, who is currently interning at a hotel in New York and is particularly interested in guest services. Over the past few years, SHFM and The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) have developed a strong relationship, with some SHFM members being graduates of the CIA. One notable CIA alumnus, Brian O'Connor, participated in the SHFM Foundation Fellowship Program, further strengthening the bond between the two organizations. Emma’s involvement with SHFM marks a continuation of this collaboration, as she looks forward to pursuing her passion in hospitality. #shfmfoundation #student #member #intern

Our JWU student chapter supporting a great cause! The student chapter of the Johnson and Wales Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management participated in the College of Hospitality Management’s annual food drive, a competition where hospitality clubs race to gather the most cans and non-perishable food items for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. The chapter emerged victorious, collecting the most items of any participating club and earning a beautiful trophy as a testament to their success. #JWU #johnsonandwales #studentchapter #shfmfoundation
