Springfield Foundation was in the giving spirit today! Earlier this morning, staff and board members visited Second Harvest to sort fresh produce and pack over 160 CSFP boxes. Thank you for all your hard work and giving us your time for a few hours today. ?????? Someone chose to put Christmas music on the speaker (before Thanksgiving!), but we won't fault them for getting into the holiday spirit a little early. ????

?? Advocacy in Action! ?? Last week, three members of the Second Harvest team attended the Ohio Association of Foodbanks' Advocacy Kick-Off Meeting at the Mid-Ohio Food Collective in Columbus. We engaged in meaningful discussions about the new programs being launched to address the root causes of hunger and explored how food banks like ours can advocate for the vital support needed to meet the growing needs of our community. ???? On Friday, over 70 pantry operators gathered for our annual All-Agency Conference. At this conference: ? Pantry operators renew their ServSafe Certification ? SHFB staff give presentations to discuss how they can support pantries during their food distributions (In this photo, our Procurement Manager is discussing supply chain and food procurement for our counties) ? Pantry operators go through Civil Rights Training ? SHFB reviews the requirements to stay in compliance with Feeding America's standards ? Pantry operators get to network and discuss their experiences This is the only time of the year that we get to see all of our pantry operators in one place. We are grateful for all that you do for Second Harvest and our neighbors. We are helping our communities thrive by minimizing hunger in Clark, Logan, and Champaign Counties!

This Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country with courage and dedication. ?????? As we reflect on their sacrifices, let’s also remember the importance of supporting veterans in our communities. Many face hunger and food insecurity. According to Feeding America's statistics, ???1 in 9 working-age veterans are food insecure. ???24% of active-duty service members were food insecure in 2020. ???1.2 million low-income veterans use SNAP. Together, we are working to feed all neighbors in Clark, Logan, and Champaign Counties, including our military veteran. To all who have served, thank you.
