“Show Me the Projects, and They Will Be Funded” – A Call for Investable Infrastructure Projects At today’s FIDIC Global Infrastructure Conference in Geneva, experts echoed a resounding message: bankable projects are key to unlocking #InfrastructureInvestment. In the session, Show me the money! - De-risking and leveraging infrastructure investment, industry leaders discussed how de-risking strategies and clear project structures are essential to attract the $139 trillion needed for sustainable infrastructure to achieve net zero by 2050. Manish Kothari, President and CEO of Sheladia Associates, Inc. and FIDIC board member highlighted the investment gap, noting the critical role of pension and insurance funds as financiers. The panellists agreed—it's not the lack of money but the lack of investable, de-risked projects that poses the challenge. Jerome Haegeli of the Swiss Re Institute aptly stated, “The money is there, but bankable projects are not.” To move forward, there must be a focus on creating investable projects with transparent lending practices, an emphasis on #ESG standards, and collaboration between the public and private sectors.
