Increasing the participation of women & girls in outdoor activities since 2007.

关于我们

Mission: SheJumps increases the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities to foster confidence, leadership, and connection to nature and community through free and low-cost outdoor education. SheJumps increases the participation of women and girls in outdoor activities to foster confidence, leadership, and connection to nature and community. SheJumps believes growth is in our nature, but fear of stereotypes, failure, rejection, labels, etc—those spoken over us, spoken inside of us and what we’ve believed—limit our growth. SheJumps helps women and girls take risks in the outdoors to enable them to break through fears and internal/external barriers in life so they can grow to their full potential. SheJumps is almost entirely volunteer-run.

It's Junior Ski Patrol season! Thank you Justin Dersham for helping to tell the story of ski patrol and highlight our junior ski patrol program in the process!

Ski patrol is one of the toughest, most physically demanding, and high-risk jobs on the mountain. It takes strength, skill, and resilience to keep people safe in extreme conditions. And yet, like so many spaces in the outdoor industry, it has long been a male-dominated field. That’s why this project remains one of my all-time favorites. For International Women’s Day #IWD, I want to share a piece I directed and for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, highlighting the incredible women of ski patrol—a team that pushes boundaries every single day. But we didn’t stop at documenting their work. We were also able to highlight SheJumps, an organization dedicated to getting more women and girls into the outdoors, and brought over 30 young girls to shadow these patrollers for a day. They got to see firsthand that no job is out of reach—that they, too, could grow up to be the ones dropping into avalanche zones, making life-saving rescues, and leading on the mountain. ?? Representation matters. When young girls see women in roles like this, it shifts their mindset about what’s possible. They’re not just told they can do anything—they see it for themselves. ?? This project was about more than just skiing. It was about showing the next generation that courage, leadership, and grit aren’t defined by gender. To all the women breaking barriers—on the mountain, in the workplace, and beyond—today is for you. Keep pushing forward, and let’s keep making space for the next generation to follow. What’s a moment in your life where you saw someone break barriers and it changed how you saw the world? Let’s celebrate those stories today. ?? #InternationalWomensDay #SheJumps #WomenWhoLead #SkiPatrol

Everyone deserves to feel like they belong in the outdoors. But for many, that sense of belonging hasn’t always been visible. As a SheJumps Ikon Pass Scholarship recipient, Cyncere shares how snowboarding has become a space of freedom, connection, and joy—and why seeing more Black women in the mountains is so powerful. Read her story and join us in celebrating the voices shaping a more inclusive outdoor community. ?? "Representation in outdoor spaces is crucial, not just for our generation but for those to come. Growing up, I rarely saw anyone who looked like me in mountain spaces, especially in snowboarding. Without that representation, I subconsciously believed that the exciting things I saw on TV and in magazines weren’t meant for me. “We don’t do those kinds of things,” I often heard. As a Black woman, that message was even stronger, making it feel like snowboarding was out of reach. That’s why representation is so important, so the next little Black girl can see someone like her thriving in a sport that has long felt unfamiliar or inaccessible. Snowboarding has given me so much. It’s reconnected me with the outdoors, helped me stay active, and provided a sense of peace. When I’m on the mountain, I can block out life’s stress and negativity, even if just for a few hours. It’s a personal outlet, a space where I feel free. More women of color should feel encouraged to try snowboarding, regardless of their experience or skill level. The more we build community, the more we can break down barriers and make these spaces feel welcoming and accessible to everyone.I’ve noticed more and more Black women on the mountain, and that’s incredible but it’s still not the norm. Even now, people are often surprised when I tell them my favorite thing to do is snowboard. That’s why visibility matters. The more we show up, the more we normalize our presence in these spaces. Representation isn’t just about seeing someone who looks like you, it’s about knowing that you belong, that you’re just as capable, and that these experiences are for you, too." -Cyncere H. #BlackHistoryMonth #RepresentationMatters #OutdoorEquity #shejumps

Meet Lamme, a SheJumps Ikon Pass Scholarship recipient whose voice and experience highlight both the challenges and the joy of getting outside. We recognize that the outdoors has long been shaped by barriers that have made access difficult for Black communities. But voices like Lamme’s are shifting the narrative—creating space, building community, and showing that the outdoors belongs to everyone. ??? This Black History Month, we're amplifying the work of organizations dedicated to creating more inclusive outdoor spaces—like Brown Girls Climb, whose impact over the past eight years has been nothing short of transformative. Read about the Brown Girls Climb annual fundraiser in their own words.?? "Brown Girls Climb has steadily expanded its impact, creating powerful pathways for mentorship, leadership, and representation in the outdoor industry. Through innovative roles, we’ve brought about real change by launching and leading initiatives that foster inclusion and access in outdoor spaces. Whether it’s through the creation of climbing festivals, grant programs, meetups, workshops, or other educational resources, we’ve been able to empower individuals to explore the outdoors while also offering tools to help others build their own community spaces and events. Our work has emphasized the importance of getting outside, not just for recreation, but for connection, healing, and growth. We’ve supported countless women and Genderqueer folks of color to thrive in spaces where their presence and stories matter. And we’ve witnessed how this work ripples outward, enabling our community members to go on and create opportunities for themselves and others. As we celebrate these incredible milestones, we’re thrilled to continue this journey of growth and impact. The coming year holds exciting new opportunities to deepen our mentorship programs, enhance access to climbing and outdoor spaces, and expand the reach of our leadership development initiatives. With your support, we can build on this foundation and take Brown Girls Climb to even greater heights. Together, we’ll continue to foster inclusive and equitable outdoor spaces for all.
