Another Day, Another Way to Make a Difference!????? Yesterday, we shared how our Bristol team?crushed?it with their?Pie-a-PLT Event, raising more than $400 for the United Way of Bristol TN/VA. Today, we’re thrilled to highlight another?tight knit (and heartwarming!) initiative from our?Shearer’s Support Center?team. Our team is coming together to create?tie blankets?and write?encouraging cards?for our?Change Maker Organization,?Safe Harbor Ohio. Safe Harbor is a beacon of hope, providing trauma-informed care and support for young women who have survived unimaginable challenges. Over the next few months, our team will be tying knots—not just in blankets, but in the fabric of compassion and care—to send warmth and encouragement to every girl staying at Safe Harbor. ?? Through our?Change Makers?program, each of our facilities selects a local organization to support throughout the year. We’re so proud to stand with Safe Harbor Ohio and their mission of healing and hope. This year, we're honored to spotlight Joline Manning, our Chief Human Resources Officer, whose journey exemplifies resilience, passion, and leadership. Joline's career began in law, driven by her commitment to fairness and opportunity. After practicing for four years, she discovered her true calling in HR - a field where she could directly impact people's lives every day. At Shearer's, Joline is passionate about talent management and team member development, and she takes pride in being a female leader on our executive team. She views this role as both a privilege and a responsibility to inspire others, particularly women, to achieve their career aspirations. Her advice for aspiring women leaders is to "determine what's important to you in your career and your life. Stay true to those values and seek opportunities to grow - even when they challenge you." Last week, members of our Procurement Team had the privilege of attending the Procure Analytics Member Meeting in Atlanta. As proud members since 2013 and the 49th member of their program, we’ve witnessed firsthand how Procure Analytics has grown to serve more than 1,185 members today. The meeting provided the opportunity to strategize with industry leaders, explore innovative ways to optimize programs, and strengthen partnerships that enhance value for all stakeholders. These insights are vital as we continue delivering high-quality snacks to our customers. We’re excited to implement what we’ve learned and look forward to continued success with Procure Analytics. Women in manufacturing leadership are rare — females in senior operation roles make up less than 5% of manufacturing leadership in the U.S. and Canada. At Shearer's, we're proud to be changing that. This Women's History Month, we celebrate Julie Bloom and Coreen Gerantonis, two female plant directors in our network who are breaking barriers in the food manufacturing industry. ? Julie joined Shearer's in 2010 as a Quality Manager and worked her way up through roles before becoming Plant Director. She takes pride in making a meaningful impact on the people who work hard every day to create high-quality snacks for our customers. ? After working in the automotive industry, Coreen decided she wanted a change of pace and switched careers to a Plant Controller at Shearer's in 2008. Now as Plant Director, she thrives on the daily challenges of food manufacturing and loves problem-solving to support her team better. Today our team attended the inspiring Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank campaign kickoff luncheon. This event marked the beginning of a crucial effort to combat food insecurity in our community, and we’re honored to be a part of it. We’re proud to be supporting this important initiative as a key partner in the community. As a food manufacturer, we believe it’s our responsibility to give back and support those facing hunger. Harvest for Hunger is one of the largest annual, community-wide food and funds drives in the nation, covering 21 counties across Northeast Ohio. Some key highlights: - Last year, 31.4 million meals were provided to our community, a 16% increase over 2023 - More meals were provided last year than any other year in the organization's history - Every $1 donated can provide $10 worth of food or 5 meals Our team members are actively involved with Harvest for Hunger and other local food security initiatives. We’re committed to making a difference in our community and supporting our neighbors in need. Together, we can help ensure no one goes hungry.
