Looking back at the unforgettable morning at She Who UK last week for International Women's Day 2025, celebrating ambition, breaking barriers, and driving change. ?? Gathering over 250 united individuals at Cardiff’s Marriott Hotels, we heard from an outstanding panel of speakers: - Dr. Asel Sartbaeva (co-found & CEO, EnsiliTech) - Beren Kayali (Co-found & CTO, Deploy? ) - Sophie Mason (Founder & CEO, ThinkEDI) - Andries Pretorius (Former International Rugby player and founder, One Step North) Each shared powerful, personal, and unique stories of resilience, innovation, and purpose. They were truly phenomenal and an inspiration to everyone in the room. Guided by the brilliant Gabriella Francesca Jukes, the discussions sparked thought-provoking conversations on how we can all take action and move forward with intent. Beyond the inspiring talks, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect, network, and support an incredible cause. Over ￡700 was raised on the day for Vale Domestic Abuse Services , helping them continue their vital work for those experiencing domestic abuse and sexual violence. Bristol Women’s Voice IWD Programme – With over 50 workshops, panels, and talks at City Hall, this event brought together women from various sectors to share experiences and drive change. ?? I've had such a busy week celebrating IWD 2025 that I haven't managed to post anything (and did it really happen if it's not on LinkedIn?!) ?? ?? She Who UK put on a fantastic event at the Marriott which featured an insightful panel discussion with Beren Kayali, Andries Pretorius, Sophie Mason and Asel Sartbaeva, presented by Gabriella Francesca Jukes. Each of the speakers' stories were so inspirational and show that no matter where we come from, we are all aiming for the same goal of parity and inclusion. The event also fundraised for and showcased the vital work done by Vale Domestic Abuse Services ?? #Superwoman hosted an IWD 2025 lunch at the Classroom. In addition to a wonderful meal cooked by the students, we heard from Helen Molyneux about how her journey has led her to Monumental Welsh Women. Helen also spoke about the next monumental Welsh woman to be immortalised as a statue, Elizabeth Andrews, and her motto of "Educate, Agitate, Organise". We should definitely all be more Elizabeth! I'm lucky to be around inspirational women all the time, both professionally and personally. ??♀?International Women’s Day ??♀? Time to reflect on how far we’ve come, and how much more there is still to do. I was lucky enough to attend the She Who UK women’s day event in Cardiff on Thursday and hear from some exceptional speakers. Beren Kayali Asel Sartbaeva Sophie Mason are doing exceptional things (like finding a way to ensure vaccines remain effective even when not refrigerated thereby saving millions of lives…..) which deserve celebration ?? and yet all of them have suffered prejudice in their working lives. And therein lies the problem - even when we’re changing the world we’re still doing so with extra challenge along the way because we’re women. And that makes me more and more angry the older I get. I don’t want my daughter, who has just turned 7, to have to face prejudice when she changes the world (she’s already formidable so I’m sure she will ??). So my message today to both my daughter and my son is we’ve come a long way, but there’s more still to do. I do though want to end on a high, so thankyou to the amazing women in my work life who have helped me on my career journey. Some of them have done so by supporting me and championing me when others haven’t, and others have done so by walking alongside me each of us on our own journeys but helping each other. And I’ve been so thrilled over the last couple of years to have expanded that network significantly in Wales - the network of strong women I’ve found myself part of in Wales has honestly been one of the biggest joys of opening our office there. And not one I expected! You know who you all are ?? But also thanks to all the amazing male allies in my life. It’s absolutely the case that the time I joined the law meant that I had many many more male mentors in the early part of my career than female and so wouldn’t be where I am today without them. And today I find myself surrounded by amazing men who have no issue being led by a woman. That’s not a small thing in itself, but they’re also the ones who don’t miss a beat when openly asked (often in front of me) if I’m their boss, or who subtly give the signals to others that I’m in charge when it’s clear (again) that someone has assumed they’re more senior than me. I joke it’s because of how young I look but we all know it’s not just that ?? Again you know who you are but again, special shout out to the male Cardiff partners on this who perhaps because we more regularly meet new people have done this again and again and again ?? So yes, so much to celebrate, and so much more to do. We won’t get there without us all working together, men and women. So let’s do this thing ??

Happy International Women's day! Really enjoyed taking part in this event, what a panel and what an audience!
