This course is designed for people who care for others who have experienced trauma - this could be experienced in professional, voluntary, or familial settings. Together we'll explore: - Causes of trauma - environmental and experiential - How trauma affects the brain and body - Lived experience and professional experts perspectives on responding to trauma - Explore self-care techniques as a way to help regulate with someone experiencing the effects of trauma, and to be kind to ourselves as we walk alongside those who have overcome challenges. Let's fund survivor dreams! She Has A Name's Back-to-School Fundraiser now through the end of August supports the April Thacker Dream Scholarship. Our goal this month is to raise a collective $1,500: the total amount needed to fund one survivor's dream. The April Thacker Dream Scholarship empowers human trafficking survivors further themselves in their personal development and growth. This program challenges applicants to dream for themselves, outline their goals, and work towards achieving their goals. Our primary goal is to support survivors in defining success for their unique journey. We work with applicants to ask “What is MY dream? How do I imagine getting there? What are my barriers and how do I address them?” Each awardee receives both a financial scholarship as well as a mentor to walk alongside them in support of making their dream a reality. We've supported: ?? furniture for a first apartment equipment for survivor-led wilderness trauma recovery retreats ?? first vacations with family ?? nonprofits and small businesses launches.... It is an honor to walk alongside survivors as they dare to dream of a different future for themselves and their families. Since its inception in 2019 we have supported 15 survivors through a total financial investment of $33,741.
