Our Leadership Shawnee class just wrapped up an impactful two-day retreat, and we’re excited about the incredible leaders in this year’s group! Thank you to our partner, Gordon Cooper Technology Center and Cama Watts, each class participant completed a DISC personality assessment. This session helped them better understand their personality style as well as how to communicate with different personalities, a crucial skill for any leader. The class then heard from Tina Hanna on the importance of self-confidence and networking. In day two we welcomed David Skidmore from LeaderGrowth. David is passionate about helping people and organizations overcome challenges and experience transformation. David talked about how to elevate your leadership by empowering our class as they navigate change in personal and professional situations. In addition to the powerful insights from our speakers, the class also spent time brainstorming their class project, completing a scavenger hunt with different scenarios that show how visitors to Shawnee affect our local economy, and networking with Leadership Shawnee alumni. We were honored to host Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell yesterday for an important roundtable discussion on his Workforce Tour alongside the Department of Commerce, Department of Human Services, state,local and tribal leaders, nonprofits and small and large businesses in our community. Together, we discussed key issues impacting our community, from childcare and workforce development to housing, healthcare, infrastructure, and legislative needs. A huge thank you to Lt. Governor Pinnell for taking the time to listen and engage directly with Shawnee, ensuring that the concerns and challenges we face are heard at the Capitol.
