On Friday, DHA celebrated the grand opening of Joli Apartments and Townhomes—our newest development in Sun Valley! Thanks to our dedicated partners at OZ Architecture and Shaw Construction, this incredible new build brings 133 much-needed apartments to the neighborhood, providing high-quality, affordable housing for residents. As part of our commitment to revitalizing Sun Valley, Joli represents another step toward creating a vibrant, inclusive community where families can thrive. Denver Housing Authority CEO, Joaquín Cintrón Vega, stated in his speech, "For decades, this community faced isolation, economic hardship, and a lack of basic resources. For too long, disinvestment dictated the neighborhood's future... In 2015, we took a bold step. We didn't impose change from the outside. We built it together." We also heard inspiring words from DHA's Chief Real Estate Investment Officer Erin Clark, DHA Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles Gilford III, Councilwoman Jamie C. Torres, HOST Executive Director Dr. Jamie R., and Deputy Mayor Al Gardner. Denver Regional Director TaShina Salas, read a powerful statement from Senator John Hickenlooper, and joined others in emphasizing the importance of investing in affordable housing. During the ceremony, Sun Valley resident Alexandra Carrillo, shared her heartfelt journey: “Seeing the old Sun Valley come down, brick by brick, tree by tree, and even playground by playground, it was tough. I knew, deep down, that coming back here would be worth the wait. When I had the opportunity to visit GreenHaus and choose our future home, it became clear just how much of a blessing it was to return to Sun Valley from the old to the new.” To the residents of Sun Valley—your resilience, dedication, and collaboration have been the heart of this transformation.
