We’ve all been there: someone you know experienced a death loss, and you don’t know what to say. Maybe you’ve even said something you thought was helpful, but wasn’t received well. It’s OK – we’re human! But grief and loss are a natural part of life, so it’s important to learn what grief is and how we can support people who are going through it. We invite you to learn more at these free Grief 101 presentations at your local libraries next week: Tuesday, 3/25 at 3 PM West Tisbury Free Public Library 1042 State Rd, West Tisbury Thursday, 3/27 at 12 PM Hyannis Public Library 401 Main St., Hyannis Registration suggested: https://lnkd.in/eppmUcJM

Grief is a collective experience that reshapes family dynamics. We're honored to host this interactive webcast from the National Alliance for Children's Grief (NACG), which delves into the critical role families play in shaping how young people process loss, offering a culturally attuned perspective that highlights the significance of honoring each family’s unique context. Whether you're a professional in the field or a community member seeking insight on supporting a young person on their grief journey, we welcome you to participate in this valuable conversation. The 2nd annual Cape Hope Squad Summit was a day of fun, valuable conversation, idea sharing, and inspiration. We’re amazed by the work that Hope Squad members are doing in their schools to reduce stigma and start conversations about mental health, and we can’t wait to see where they go from here. We’re already looking forward to meeting again in 2026! #SuicideAwareness #StartTheConversation #CapeCod #MentalHealth

In grief, we often learn that the people we expect to show up for us don’t. Why is this? The short answer is because grief makes a lot of people uncomfortable. We’ve never been taught how to talk about it or how to be there for others who are grieving. This lack of education leads to many feeling abandoned by their friends, family and community members. We’re filling the gap with Grief 101, a presentation series on “the basics” of grief: what it is, how it affects our brains and bodies, and how we can support the people in our lives who are going through it. We hope you can join us for one of these upcoming events at a library near you ???? Learn more about Grief 101 at https://lnkd.in/ejVxdpit *Some libraries suggest registration. Visit your library’s website for more details before you attend. #Grief101 #GriefAwareness #CapeCod #SharingKindness

In case you missed it… we’re gathering at Veterans Park Beach once again on Saturday, May 17th for the Suicide Awareness Walk! We look forward to seeing you at another amazing event, this time with a slogan that defines what this walk is all about: “Hope. Healing. Humanity.” Last year, you joined us in the pouring rain, and despite the weather, you helped us raise nearly $100,000 for suicide awareness on the Cape & Islands! Those funds have helped sustain (and grow!) our services, such as: ?? QPR suicide prevention training for community members ?? Hope Squad, a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program (now in 12 Cape schools!) ?? Peer grief support for suicide loss survivors ?? Local presentations, documentary screenings, and panel discussions about suicide and brain health A couple of things to keep in mind about this year’s event: ?? Walk registration and sign up for the fundraiser are separate. We advise you to register for the event FIRST, after which you will receive a link to create your fundraising page. ?? NEW THIS YEAR: instead of automatically receiving a walk T-shirt based on donations, T-shirts can be purchased at checkout for $20 each when you register, and retrieved on walk day! A limited number will also be available for purchase at the event. Proceeds benefit this year’s fundraiser. Learn more about the walk, register, and sign up to become a sponsor via this link: https://lnkd.in/e-3vWaZg
