I recently attended the ?DALE! Summit and wow! ?? I knew it was going to impactful and educational. And it was, and then some. One highlight for me was the keynote by Hamet Watt, Co-Founder of MoviePass and Founder of Share Ventures. I had a chance to geek out for a moment because I’ve admired his bold approach to product and pricing strategy, particularly with MoviePass. We even wrote an article about MoviePass pricing, so hearing him speak - especially the shocking experience of the MoviePass launch - was a insightful moment. The “Real Talks” segment of the summit was exactly that—real and raw. Founders shared deeply personal stories of their entrepreneurial journeys: ? A Latine founder shared her story of raising $1M (and one of the first to raise $1M!), despite facing countless rejections. ? She also spoke about the challenge of watching her startup fail and the lessons learned from that. ? The conversations around the mental and emotional toll of the startup grind were impactful, emphasizing the importance of mental health guardrails for founders. ? Another founder shared the balance needed to focus on the company and customers. To stay committed to solving meaningful problems. ? A panel of founders who all raised over $2M in venture capital, and what their respective journeys was like and lessons learned. What made this summit truly special was the celebration of Latine innovation and a recognition that opportunity isn’t equally distributed. The event underscored the ongoing challenges faced by underrepresented groups, and highlighted the importance of building a supportive ecosystem in LA and beyond.
