?? Share My Meals is honored to be recognized as a 2024 Recycling and Sustainability Champion by the NEW JERSEY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION. ???? As a proud recipient of NJDEP’s “Rising Star” Award, we’re committed to tackling food waste and food insecurity in #NewJersey. Since the beginning of 2024, we have recovered 100,000 nutritious meals that would have otherwise gone to our landfills, emitting lots of #methane! Instead, we’re delivering them to our neighbors that need it the most. By redistributing surplus food from large cafeterias, we’re creating positive environmental and social impacts across our community. ??? A huge thank you to the NJDEP for this honor and to everyone who supports our mission. Let’s continue to work together for a sustainable, waste-free future! #ShareMyMeals #NJDEP #Sustainability #FightFoodInsecurity #FightFoodWaste #CommunityImpact #EnvironmentalImpact? #MealRecoveryCoalition #MealRecoveryRevolution

?? ??? World Food Day: A Time to Reflect and Take Action Today is #WorldFoodDay and this year's theme is "Right to Foods for a Better Life and a Better Future." We are reminded of the vital role food plays in all of our lives and the difference access to nutritious meals can make for families in our community. At Share My Meals, we believe that everyone has the right to healthy food, and that surplus food should be redirected to feed people in need instead of filling landfills. As one of our recipients beautifully shared: "Thank you for providing this amazing food donation service for my family. It is truly a GIFT... You've given me the opportunity to spend more time with my loved ones, connecting, building stronger bonds, and caring for their physical needs. Thank you, from my heart." We are incredibly proud of the impact our program has had, helping ease financial strain, saving time for families to spend together, and ensuring that those in need have access to meals they deserve. ?? Together, we can make a difference. #WorldFoodDay2024 #ShareMyMeals? #FoodSecurity #SustainableFuture #SupportingFamilies #FoodRecovery #FightFoodInsecurity #FightFoodWaste #CommunitySupport #NewJersey #NJEDA #MealRecoveryCoalition #MealRecoveryRevolution

We're excited to share valuable resources with the 70 families in our program! During meal deliveries, our amazing volunteers are distributing two important flyers designed to support and empower families: 1?? "Food Available Near Me" – A helpful guide with a list of local food pantries and hot meal programs to help them access additional nutritious meals when they need them most ????. 2?? "Food Waste Prevention Tips" – Practical tips to keep food fresh longer and understand expiration dates, helping them stretch their groceries and reduce waste ?????. ?? These resources were made possible thanks to the generous support of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA). We’re grateful for their commitment to helping families in our community thrive. #ShareMyMeals #NJEDA #SupportingFamilies #FoodRecovery #EnvironmentalImpact #FightFoodInsecurity #FightFoodWaste #CommunitySupport #NewJersey #MealRecoveryCoalition #MealRecoveryRevolution

Fighting hunger and reducing food waste are issues New Jersey is tackling head on, Gov. Phil Murphy said today at the launch of the revolutionary Meal Recovery Coalition, an alliance of private, nonprofit and government partners spearheaded by New Jersey nonprofit Share My Meals Inc. ? “I am proud to see New Jersey lead the way in addressing hunger and food waste,” said Governor Phil Murphy. “The Meal Recovery Coalition is taking bold steps forward by pioneering this effort. This initiative will not only divert food from going to landfill and compost—which will reduce greenhouse gas emissions—but will also put meals on the tables of New Jersey residents facing food insecurity.” New Jersey Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin, a leading advocate for food security who has made the fight against hunger a central part of his policy agenda, was also on hand to celebrate the Meal Recovery Coalition launch. The delegates, including experts in food security and waste reduction, nonprofits and representatives of the Coalition’s founding organizations engaged in discussions on how best to collaborate to support food security through meal recovery in their communities. The MRC founding members include Bristol Myers Squibb, Novo Nordisk, Campbell's, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, Sanofi, and Capital Health (US). These organizations have committed to the recovery of surplus meals as well as serving as ambassadors for meal recovery and supporting the Coalition through financial contributions and advocacy efforts.
