Thank you MSU and students for having me!
Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of being back at Montclair State University to host a "Résumé Writing Bootcamp" for their students. The room was packed, and you could feel the energy and excitement as so many of the students raised their hands to ask questions or stayed after for a personalized résumé critique. This is exactly why I started my company Shape Your Fate, to provide young professionals with the tools they need to build happy and sustainable careers. I can't wait to be back! #careercoach #resumewriter #students #college

Always make sure to have questions prepared for each interview round. Not only does this help show your interest in the role, but it also helps to reduce potential "buyer's remorse" on your part of accepting a role you don't fully know. However, you want to make sure that the questions you are asking are appropriate for the individual you are meeting with. A recruiter has a much different perspective on the role and the organization than a hiring manager, with a recruiter typically being knowledgeable on the hiring manager's expectations (what they were told to look for) and the organization as a whole. When interviewing with a recruiter, here are some examples of questions I recommend asking: 1. What qualities are you and the hiring manager looking for in a candidate? 2. What are some things you wish you knew about the company before working here? 3. What is one thing you wish you could change about the organization? 4. What keeps you at the organization? Why are you still here? 5. Why are you recruiting for this role? Company-related questions, such as asking about recent layoffs, culture, growth, etc. are fantastic things to ask the recruiter. They also should be able to clarify the details for the role, such as salary, location, and benefits. Happy interviewing! #interview #interviewtips #career #careercoach #recruiter #job #jobsearch #opentowork
