September is Suicide Prevention Month, and Shamrock is committed to changing the conversation around mental health in the construction industry. With construction ranked as the #1 industry for deaths by suicide, we stand united with the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention (CIASP) to educate and empower our employees. One way to make a difference is by using the TASC model from LivingWorks Suicide Prevention training. Are you ready to stand up and help someone in need?"

Warning Signs of Suicide: Changes in behavior like withdrawal, anxiety, recklessness, or substance misuse, along with decreased work performance, trouble thinking, and increased safety incidents, are key indicators. What they say matters too—statements about feeling trapped, wanting to die, or being a burden can be serious red flags. Life challenges like divorce, loss, illness, or financial struggles can increase risk. Knowing these signs can help you stay alert and supportive of those around you. ????? Let’s stand together to raise awareness for suicide prevention! ?? #YouAreNotAlone #SupportMatters

Week 3 of Safety Month is dedicated to Risk Reduction. To reduce the risk of safety incidents, emphasize the importance of reporting hazards and incidents during safety conversations. Encourage your team to report all safety hazards, incidents, injuries, and near misses, regardless of how small they may seem. This ensures that safety protocols can be put in place, re-evaluated, or adjusted as needed. Additionally, make sure your team is familiar with on-site first aid protocols and procedures. No injury is too minor to warrant consideration of your first aid procedures; even a small cut might require a bandage. Ensure everyone knows where to find first aid supplies and who to call for bigger emergencies. Creating an atmosphere of safety transparency helps reduce the number and severity of incidents and aids faster recovery.
