We are working with Firefighter Air Coalition (FAC)—one of the nation’s leading authorities on firefighter air management—to help equip firefighters with the tools and training they need to meet the unique challenges posed by high-rise, big box, and other outsized building structures. This year we will sponsor and collaborate with FAC at FDIC International in April and at FAC training events and industry conferences throughout the country. FDIC booth attendees and visitors will learn about new firefighter air strategies designed for megatall and megasprawl building structures. We will also join forces to advocate for building codes requiring the adoption of air management technologies proven to enhance firefighter safety and productivity, such as FARS (firefighter air replenishment systems). Earlier this month we opened a new Fire Protection location in Aurora, IL with a ribbon cutting, a visit from Kris Kringle, and a dramatic fire demonstration coordinated by the Northern Illinois Fire Sprinkler Advisory Board (NIFSAB) in conjunction with the Aurora Fire Department. The demonstration showcased a comparison of Christmas tree fires in similarly furnished rooms, one with a fire sprinkler and the other without. It showcased how quickly Christmas tree fires can spread in an unprotected room, in stark contrast to the quick response of the fire sprinkler to limit fire and smoke in the other room. This fire sprinkler demonstration marks the 1,000th demonstration of its kind for NIFSAB. Other activities included photo opportunities with Kris Kringle, a charity gift presentation to Loaves and Fishes Community Services, and tours of the facility. #EMCOR #FireProtection #GiveBack
