A fundamentally different approach to learning.
关于我们
Shady Hill School is an independent, co-educational day school in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1915, Shady Hill serves students in pre-kindergarten (called 'Beginners) through 8th grade. The school has an enrollment of approximately 500 students. Current Shady Hill Head of School Mark Stanek became the school's sixth director in 2010. A teaching approach called Central Subject is the fundamental organizing force behind Shady Hill's curriculum. It is a year-long study around which each grade, III - VIII, focuses its work in history, literature, geography, and writing. It is the study of a people, a period of history, an idea or movement. It is a way of organizing subject matter that is flexible, inclusive, frequently changing in its application, yet constant in its commitment to certain approaches to study.

Cody Cortes '10 is an SHS alum who taught in Oakland public charter schools as a 4th-grade lead teacher and taught English Language Arts (ELA) for three years. He has since worked at the non-profit after-school program SquashDrive, mentoring Oakland students from elementary to high school in academics, athletics, and college prep. He received a B.A. from Princeton in English Language Literature in 2020 and was honored with the Outstanding Work by a Senior Award for his thesis in Creative Writing.? Catelyn "Cate" Janac will graduate from Pennsylvania State University in May 2025 with a major in Political Science and minors in French, Francophone Studies, and English. While at Penn State, she has served as a learning coordinator for the Department of Biology. There, she facilitated discussions on environmental issues and served as an English Second Language (ESL) tutor for the Literacy Corps.
