In SHADAC's latest "Basics Blog", our researchers explain the Gini coefficient, a measure of income inequality used on our State Health Compare tool. https://lnkd.in/gnmHVqbM What is the Gini coefficient? It is the most commonly used measure of inequality, often used to measure income inequality specifically. We use Gini coefficient data as a part of our 'Income Inequality' measure on State Health Compare, where you can see the national and state-level Gini coefficients from 2006 to 2023: https://lnkd.in/g5Vr-JJm. ?? SHADAC and UMN's Cannabis Research Center (CRC) Release New Brief??? Findings suggest that while adult cannabis use grew from 2012-2013 to 2018-2019, use by underage youth held steady https://lnkd.in/gCrSaita In this brief, titled "Cannabis Use Across the States in the Early Legalization Era", Senior Research Fellow Colin Planalp uses data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) to understand how legalization may be impacting cannabis use prevalence between states and age groups. While we know from CDC data that cannabis use began increasing as early as the late 2000s, this new era of cannabis legalization for adult use raises important questions: - Is the prevalence of cannabis use increasing in all states no matter the current legal status? - Do we see an increase in cannabis use in both adults and underage use despite age-restrictions in legalization states? - Are there different trends in use in legalization vs non-legalization states? Read the full brief to learn more about how we used NSDUH data to explore the answers these questions and more: https://lnkd.in/gCrSaita #NSDUHData #NSDUH #SurveyData #CannabisUse #CannabisPolicy #SubstanceUse #CannabisLegalization #UniversityofMinnesota #SchoolofPublicHealth #StateCannabis #StateCannabisUse #YouthCannabis

On behalf of SHVS, SHADAC has created a Medicaid Beneficiary Advisory Councils (BACs) Reporting Toolkit (https://lnkd.in/g63cz4fu) to support state Medicaid agencies in proactively collecting and documenting BAC activities. Medicaid Beneficiary Advisory Councils (BACs) are an important mechanism for implementing meaningful community engagement within state Medicaid programs. This toolkit supports Medicaid agencies' documentation and data collection in ways that align both with the best practices of transformational community engagement, and the requirements of the?Ensuring Access to Medicaid Services final rule. The process of publicly and transparently tracking information, discussion topics, and member information from BACs is a key part of building trusted relationships, as well as documenting and measuring the success of these groups. This toolkit from SHVS and SHADAC includes downloadable & customizable templates for data collection on BAC Member Composition, Engagement, Discussion Topics, and more. Find the toolkit at this link below:?https://lnkd.in/g63cz4fu For additional customization support,?you can contact SHVS at the following link: https://lnkd.in/guQ8fUgh #Medicaid #BAC #CommunityEngagement #BeneficiaryAdvisoryCouncil #SHVS #StateHealthValueStrategies #SHADAC #StateHealthAccess #HealthData #MedicaidData #DataCollection #DataToolkit #MedicaidReporting
