We are a chapter of hard working volunteer members and a great resource for government meeting professionals.

SGMP- Sacramento Chapter is the only national organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to improving knowledge and expertise of individuals in the planning and execution of government meetings through education, resources, and industry relationships. SGMP is managed by a national board of directors and affiliate chapters conduct regular meetings in their respective areas Chartered in 1988 with 37 members, the Sacramento Chapter is now the third largest in the organization’s 25+ chapters. Within the chapter’s active membership base of 130+, many hold industry accreditation's including CMP, CHSP, CHME, CTP, and CGMP. In addition we have several national award winners, and two chapter members that have held the title of National President. Represented in SGMP's membership are employees of federal, state, county and city government, associations of governmental employees and government agencies, and suppliers (Hoteliers, CVB’s, CVA’s, Airlines, etc.). SGMP sought to create an opportunity to meet on common ground with the providers of meeting services and facilities to review the latest trends in planning and implementing these events. In recent years, the Sacramento Chapter has given back to our community by supporting local charity programs such as WEAVE, Ronald McDonald House and this year's local charity Wounded Warriors. We also give back to our members that work hard with and for the chapter by awarding scholarships to the Annual National Education Conference. We are a chapter of hard working volunteer members, and are one of the best resources for government meeting professionals in the state. Every business entity interested in receiving awarded funds from the US Government is required to have an active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM). This session explains the importance of SAM for both suppliers and planners, plus it encompasses the basics of how to register in SAM as well as how to identify actively registered businesses and organizations. ? Chris McLaughlin, CGMP, has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry and is the Director of Global Sales for Sonesta Hotels.?In this role, he is responsible for overseeing systemwide government and military strategies across 17 brands comprised of 1,200 hotels.
