Senior Associate Bernice T., who was recently appointed as Editorial & Publishing Director of SG VYAP / Singapore Very Young Arbitration Practitioners, co-moderated an in-person panel discussion on 13 March 2025 on “Excelling in International Arbitration as a Junior Female Practitioner” alongside SG VYAP Founder and Chair, Sunita Advani (Arbitral Assistant to Mr Michael Lee of Twenty Essex, Singapore), in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event, which was jointly organised by Braddell Brothers LLP and SG VYAP, brought together esteemed speakers Olga Boltenko (Independent Arbitrator, Singapore and Hong Kong), Anisha Sud (Partner, King & Spalding, Singapore), Esther Candice Lim（林砚清) (Partner, Braddell Brothers LLP, Singapore) and Dr. Claudia Winkler (Founder and Lead Trainer, The Negotiation Academy LLC, Singapore). The panel discussion was conducted under Chatham House Rules to encourage open and constructive dialogue. The speakers shared insights on building meaningful relationships with mentors and sponsors, as well as strategies for handling challenging situations in the workplace as a female practitioner. Braddell Brothers LLP?and SG VYAP / Singapore Very Young Arbitration Practitioners held a successful in-person panel discussion yesterday on “Excelling in International Arbitration as a Junior Female Practitioner” on the occasion of International Women's Day. The event, held at Braddell Brothers' offices in Singapore, saw an excellent turnout of 20 female in-person attendees. The panel discussion took place under Chatham House Rules and featured exceptional panellists Olga Boltenko (Independent Arbitrator, Singapore and Hong Kong; who dialled in virtually), Anisha Sud (Partner, King & Spalding, Singapore), Esther Candice Lim（林砚清) (Partner, Braddell Brothers LLP, Singapore) and Dr. Claudia Winkler (Founder and Lead Trainer, The Negotiation Academy LLC, Singapore).?The panel discussion was expertly moderated by our very own Founder and Chair Sunita Advani and Editorial & Publishing Director Bernice T.. The topics covered included how build meaningful relationships with mentors and sponsors, how to deal with those who try to dim your light (for example, through gossip, offensive and/or underhanded comments, etc.), effective communication with male colleagues, and how to set boundaries as well as the considerations to take into account in determining those boundaries. Ms Bernice Tan is a Senior Associate at Drew & Napier LLC. She specialises in commercial dispute resolution, and her work spans both litigation and arbitration proceedings. She has experience advising and acting in a wide range of disputes, including disputes relating to commercial contracts (including government-related contracts), cross-border joint ventures, shareholder agreements, directors' duties, minority oppression, employment, construction and arbitration. Ms Tan graduated with First Class Honours from University College London (UCL) in 2019, and was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2021. She is also the Editorial & Publishing Director at SG VYAP / Singapore Very Young Arbitration Practitioners.

Meet Our Co-Moderator, Ms Sunita Advani Ms Sunita Advani is an arbitral assistant to Mr Michael Lee, an English arbitrator member of Twenty Essex, and is based in Singapore. She assists Mr Lee as tribunal secretary in his high-value and multi-jurisdictional commercial arbitrations across a wide variety of industries and administered by the leading arbitral institutions globally (such as the ICC, LCIA, SIAC and HKIAC). Prior to this, Ms Advani practised international arbitration as a Junior Associate at a leading international law firm in Singapore. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and a Member of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb). Ms Advani holds an LL.B. from the University of Nottingham and an LL.M. from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law (“Berkeley Law”). Whilst at Berkeley Law, she was the Executive Editor of the Berkeley Business Law Journal. Ms Advani is admitted to practice in England & Wales, New York, Singapore and Ireland.
