Hey fam. I'm sharing a portion of an email that we as staff woke up to from our CEO, Lance Toma. This team at SFCHC has been the most dedicated and passionate group of people I've ever had the privilege to work with, and I know that we will do everything in our power to continue to care for us, protect us, to serve us, to build power, and to fight together. Be kind to yourselves today and every day moving forward...

"Taimon Booton [Navigation Center] has changed me to just feel way better about myself. I am able to just go ahead and express me; dress how I want to dress; live my life; and be a beautiful, high-energy female... I am able to push myself to be the best woman I can be." -Tyesha, Former Taimon Booton Guest (currently housed) In January 2024, SFCHC officially assumed management of the Taimon Booton Navigation Center (TBNC), a shelter and service center for transgender, gender non-conforming & intersex people, as well as cisgender women, to find sanctuary, community, and a pathway to housing. For those with marginalized gender identities facing challenges and outright discrimination when searching for safe housing, TBNC's gender-supportive facility offers refuge, belonging, and safety. It is the only shelter in Northern California attached to a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). #SFNonprofitsWork #SocialSafetyNet

?? Preventing Homelessness ?? Last year, the City and its nonprofit partners helped over 1,500 households avoid homelessness. These organizations are the backbone of our community, providing essential resources and support when it matters most. Let’s continue to uplift those in need! #SFNonprofitsWork #SocialSafetyNet

"We are standing up for ourselves and having an impact." "I first came to the Health Center in 2009 after testing positive for HIV, and I’ve been coming ever since. It’s given me a place to feel comfortable in a community of people who have similar issues. The medical staff here really listen. They take their time and are very thorough, not like other places where they’re about moving patients in and out quickly. My care is going well and my viral load is undetectable. "Serving as a volunteer Community Health Worker lets me give back to my community and engage with people in the streets who need help. I am also on the Community Policy Board because I see a moral decline in the way issues like homelessness, drug use, mental health, and public safety are being addressed, and we need change. I am hopeful. We are standing up for ourselves and having an impact" - Marquis Ausby, Community Health Worker, Community Policy Board Member, & Client #SFNonprofitsWork #SocialSafetyNet

"SFCHC is different because it's approachable. The case managers are not as reactive as in other places and are willing to really listen." - Joe B Having been housing-insecure in recent years, Joe has been a frequent presence at our Community Living Room along with his dog, Gilligan. Originally from Long Beach, CA, Joe has hitchhiked through every state in the US, from Maine to Washington, and has been incarcerated at times for offenses related to substance use and addiction. Soon after settling in San Francisco in 2001, Joe discovered he was HIV positive and, in 2006, began working with a case manager at SFCHC. In the ensuing years, our agency has assisted him in obtaining a valid birth certificate, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), substance abuse counseling, mental health treatment, and transitional housing as well as medical care. Currently Joe's HIV is undetectable. He is committed to his recovery and diligent in following treatment plans. He adopted Gilligan in 2022 from the ASPCA and we are pleased they both are part of our SFCHC family. Photo: Gilligan and Joe #SFNonprofitsWork #SocialSafetyNet

Our November 2024 Ballot Propositions Guide is here! With the 2024 election just a few weeks away, we are releasing our ballot proposition guide. As part of our core convictions, SFCHC leads through advocacy and policy work. We champion our values and the needs of our clients from city hall to the nation's capital. And on November 5, 2024, San Franciscans will be joining cities and communities throughout the nation as we vote in an election that will have a substantial impact across local, state, and federal policy. To ensure that our clients and community partners know where we stand on consequential issues affecting our state, we have released this voter guide. We encourage you to review our guide, conduct your own research on the issues amongst friends and colleagues, and most importantly—vote! We must all do our part to build the world that we want to see! #2024election #ballotpropositions #vote #getoutthevote #healthjustice

The Community Living Room continues to thrive as a vibrant community hub for people experiencing homelessness. It is a casual environment in which guests experiencing the stress of housing instability are invited indoors, into a community, to enjoy a warm meal, hang out, and choose for themselves whether to engage in services we offer. #SFNonprofitsWork #SocialSafetyNet
