Here’s a simple set of at-home exercises perfect for seniors looking to improve balance, mobility, and strength. These movements require minimal equipment and focus on gentle, controlled motion to encourage safe and effective exercise. 1. Seated Leg Lifts How to: Sit on a chair with your back straight. Lift one leg straight out in front, hold for 2–3 seconds, and lower it back down. Repeat 10 times on each leg. Benefits: Strengthens the legs and supports balance. 2. Chair Squats How to: Stand in front of a sturdy chair with feet hip-width apart. Lower down as if to sit, keeping your weight in your heels, and stand back up without sitting fully. Do 8–10 repetitions. Benefits: Builds leg strength and improves mobility. 3. Toe and Heel Raises How to: Hold onto the back of a chair for support. Slowly lift your heels to stand on your toes, hold for 2 seconds, then lower. For a variation, try lifting just your toes. Repeat 10 times each. Benefits: Improves balance and strengthens ankle muscles. 4. Shoulder Rolls How to: Sit or stand up straight. Roll your shoulders forward in a circular motion for 10 reps, then reverse for 10 reps. Benefits: Reduces tension and enhances upper-body flexibility. 5. Side Leg Raises How to: Hold onto a chair and lift one leg out to the side, keeping it straight. Hold for a second, lower, and repeat 10 times on each side. Benefits: Strengthens hips and improves balance. Try these exercises daily to maintain strength and flexibility! Make sure to breathe steadily and move at a comfortable pace. If a particular movement causes discomfort, skip it or adjust as needed. #AgingWell #SeniorsStayStrong #HomeFitness
