We had a blast at the Annual SF Firefighters Local 798 Toy Program Kick-Off Luncheon! It was great to see some familiar faces and meet new volunteers. Mayor-elect Daniel Lurie even dropped by to show his support. Station 11 cooked up an incredible Cioppino for lunch and we got a sneak peek of the toys - all organized and ready to go to children in need this holiday season. We’re proud to continue our tradition of donating over 200 ethnic dolls and 300 sports balls this year. The holiday season is quickly approaching?and the SF Firefighters Local 798 Toy Program is already hard at work fundraising for kids in need this year. We were proud to sponsor the annual Toy Program Golf Tournament which was held at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame. There was an incredible turnout, both by humans and wildlife alike! Our 2nd?Member Shred Day event of 2024 was overwhelmingly successful, so much so that we had to end it earlier than planned - our members filled two shred trucks by 1:30pm! This was a first for us, and we will be making adjustments to future Shred Day events based on what we learned this past Saturday. A huge thank you to our team of volunteers for coming out, including our CEO Kathy Duvall! We know this is a favorite event among our members and we hope we helped them save some money and declutter going into the holidays and new year. See you again in the Spring! This exciting event kicks off the season for the SF Firefighters Toy Program, a beloved tradition that brings holiday joy to children in need across San Francisco. You can support the Toy Program by attending the upcoming Charity Basketball Tournament at Kezar Pavilion on September 21 or the Golf Tournament at Crystal Springs on October 18. A big thank you to the 2,500 attendees who came out to Mission Rock China Basin Park this past Friday to attend our tailgate for the San Francisco Giants Firefighter Appreciation game! We helped sell out all 2,500 Firefighter Appreciation game tickets and gave out over 1,000 prizes to lucky winners. Attendees took some very cool 360 degree photos thanks to Chroma Photobooth , and got to spend time with our friends at the SFFD including EMTs and other fire departments in and around the Bay Area. A special visit was made by Chief Jeanine Nicholson as well as Local 798's Toy Program, and several fire trucks and engines. We appreciate the participation from the community and the partnership with the SF Giants!
