It's taken me a few days to recover from NBA All-Star Weekend in San Francisco - where once again, women's sports were very much on the docket. Big thanks to "JB" Mike John-Baptiste for inviting me to join an all-star panel at SEVN Sports + Entertainment's "Beyond the Game" conference with a couple of sporting legends (Angel M. & Shannon Rowbury OLY) plus new friends jeffrey odiorne and Jessica McCourt. Our topic: "It's Not Women's Sports, It's Sports Stupid" ??. Great discussion, wish we'd had more time! The most... challenging thing I heard all weekend was at another event, where one gentleman touched on Unrivaled Basketball's fantastic launch. His comment was that "the athletes aren't being paid that much" ?? . Shortly after he spoke, Napheesa Collier scooped up a cool $200K for winning the in-season 1v1 tournament at Unrivaled (which is not far off her entire season's WNBA salary). And that's on top of the $200K+ and equity she's receiving for the rest of her 2-month Unrivaled season. This offhand comment left me reflecting on how out of touch a lot of executives are about what women athletes do and don't get paid in 2025. I guess PARITY | A Group 1001 Company and others will just have to keep talking about it... PS yes that's a pic of Shaquille O'Neal DJing at the DraftKings Inc. x Sports Illustrated party. Definitely a fun and memorable highlight of the weekend!

After a few fun, hectic days in New Orleans in the run-up to SB LIX, I'm packing my bags again - this time for NBA All-Star Weekend. "Why are you showing up at all these men's sports events, Leela?" Because whatever the sport, in whatever the location, and whoever is playing, the conversation invariably turns to the business of women's sports, and we at PARITY | A Group 1001 Company have a few thoughts.
