Sevenson Environmental Services, Inc. provides a comprehensive range of services for the cleanup of sites and facilities contaminated by hazardous materials. Sevenson entered the environmental cleanup business in 1979 when it was selected as the principal contractor for remediation work at the Love Canal Superfund site in Niagara Falls, New York. Today, under the leadership of The Elia Family, Sevenson Environmental is one of the America's Leading Environmental Remediation Contractors with over 1,500 projects completed - including 151 sites on the US Environmental Protection Agency's NPL Superfund list - with a combined value of over $6.5 billion. Sevenson's customers include major industrial companies and federal and state agencies. Sevenson provides services throughout the continental United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Roots go back to 1917. In that year, Albert Elia, a Niagara Falls, New York architect, began a general construction business. In the 1940's, Elia's four sons joined the business and incorporated it as the Albert Elia Building Company, Inc. In the early 1950's it expanded into industrial, institutional and heavy civil construction work. Eventually the Albert Elia Building Company, Inc. grew into one of New York State's largest general contractors. Sevenson has been in business for over 100 years, and not only are we a 3rd generation family run business, we have many families working here that are multi-generational as well!

Sevenson was featured in Dredging Today for completing work at one of our Michigan Dredging Projects! This complex dredging project involved the removal of 78,000 cy of PCB contaminated river sediments. Over 60,000 tons of clean backfill, consisting of sand, gravel, and rip rap, was then imported, and placed into the river for final restoration. Temporary steel sheet pile was used along 1,500 linear feet of riverbank to stabilize slopes and to support excavation depths. Sevenson completed this project with over 132,000 on-site working hours between mobilization in April 2022 and completion of restoration and demobilization in July 2024! Earlier this month, EPA Regional Administrator Lisa Garcia and US Representative Mikie Sherrill, along with Sevenson VP Andy Wright, joined state and local partners at the Unimatic Superfund Site in Fairfield, NJ?to celebrate the project milestone and mark the beginning of the next phase of cleanup at the site!? Using about $30 million in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Sevenson demolished the former Unimatic building and?initiated excavation to dig up and remove contaminated soil. To date, Sevenson has removed over 50,000 tons of PCB and pesticide contaminated soil and replaced it with clean soil. In September, this first phase of the cleanup will come to an end and?EPA will begin the second phase of cleanup work downstream of the site. Sevenson will excavate and remove PCB-contaminated sediment in wetlands and streams downstream from the site and monitor groundwater.
