Time flies. We showed up to our first Expo West 11 years ago with our half-of-a-booth and stash of original mueslis all jam-packed into one rolling suitcase. I remember setting up and wondering whether we even had a right to be there amongst all the flashy, beautiful, rocket ship brands. This past week, here we were again, 8 people from our amazing team, not only showcasing our muesli, but also Upcycled Cereals, Granolas, Protein Oats, new Cereal Snackies and new Little Crispies. Connecting with the hundreds of wonderful change-makers we've had the honor of meeting at this show over the past decade plus. Certainly, some things have changed since that first show. We’ve had growing pains & cluck ups along the way, but our mission has never wavered. Ever. You know what else hasn’t changed—us. We’re still the same passionate people promising to keep our bar extra high and create something that’s good for everyone—for you, for the planet, and for the farmers who grow our food. The annual tradition of showing up at Expo West, the world's biggest natural products tradeshow, reminds us of how much progress we have made. We've been working hard behind the scenes to get our cereals in more stores where you shop. We're SO pumped because ... we’re now in KROGER NATIONWIDE! That means that stores like Ralph’s, Mariano’s, and Fred Meyer (all in the Kroger family) now carry our Real Cocoa, Maple Sea Salt, and Simply Honey. Thank you for the partnership Scott Boomershine. They're little, and they're a little unassuming. Sorghum. We've been mixing it into our muesli for years. It's the crispy crunchy flake, a lovely contrast against our oats. They're sturdy and dependable, too—in milk and at the farm level. Farmers have long called sorghum "milo." It's a delicious cover crop, protecting the sacred soil, keeping roots in the ground, and requiring far less water to grow (compared to rice or corn). This sturdy, dependable, crispy flake has been right under our nose and in our pantry for years. On a whim, we coated this super grain in the same simple ingredients we always grab for—coconut oil and mother nature's sweeteners. And something magic happened. Snap, crackle, and ... memories of Saturday morning cartoons and cereal popped into our heads. To be clear, there was no magic involved.
