It’s our favorite day of the week—Wrecking Wednesday! ??This week, Sessler Wrecking is spotlighting the demolition of the Truss Bridge in Port Jervis, New York. Sessler Wrecking was tasked with demolishing a 135-foot truss bridge and three condemned structures in a two-phase project. The surrounding structures were abated for asbestos and removed to clear the way for the bridge demolition. ??? ??On the bridge, our crew began by removing the 8.5-inch-thick concrete deck spanning the full length of the structure. Throughout the demolition, our skilled crew navigated around a temporary bridge, a sewer line running under the river, a sewage pumping station, and a temporary utility bridge. ??It’s that time again – Wrecking Wednesday! This week, Sessler Wrecking is shining a spotlight on a tank demolition project in Astoria, New York. ??? Sessler Wrecking was entrusted with the decommissioning and controlled demolition of an industrial tank at the Astoria Generating Station. In addition to the demolition, our crew removed approximately 2,800 tons of non-hazardous soil from the site, ensuring proper disposal at a regulated landfill while maintaining a clean and safe work environment. ???? This project required close coordination with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYC DEP) and the NYC Department of Buildings (NYC DOB). Our team worked together with these agencies to ensure that all regulatory requirements and safety standards were thoroughly met. ? ????Welcome back to another Wrecking Wednesday! This week, we’re highlighting Sessler Wrecking’s industrial demolition of the Alcoa Massena East Plant in Massena, New York. ?? Sessler Wrecking tackled the building separation and demolition of the Paste Plant, including Buildings 722, 722J, and 722K, down to the slab. This process involved confirming utility isolation, building a temporary wall, removing carbon dust equipment, handling asbestos abatement, and managing water disposal. We utilized our CAT 390 165’ High Reach Excavator and conducted a two-crane operation to remove a conveyor tower. ??? Additionally, our demolition experts took down three above-ground tanks, piping, and 12-foot ductwork near an active building and other structures down to ground level.
