Services for the UnderServed (S:US) believes every New Yorker has the right to lead a life of purpose. Since 1978, S:US has been turning this belief into reality by advocating for people with life circumstances marked by homelessness, intellectual/developmental disability, behavioral health and addiction challenges, poverty, criminal justice involvement, and trauma. Our dedicated workforce of 1,800 provides services and supports to transform the lives of tens of thousands of individuals and families in New York City and Long Island. By delivering high quality services that address the complex circumstances of each individual, we help transform lives, improve neighborhoods, and break the cycle of poverty for current and future generations of New Yorkers.

At Services for the UnderServed, our Safe Options Support (SOS) team conducts outreach to people experiencing homelessness. Our SOS team, in partnership with other organizations, utilizes a comprehensive approach to outreach, engagement, and support, primarily emphasizing facilitating the acquisition and retention of permanent housing. Each multidisciplinary SOS team is made up of 12 staff members, including licensed clinicians, nurses, care managers, and peer specialists. #streethomelessness #endhomelessness #supportivehousing
Street homelessness in New York is a systemic failure – and bold, creative solutions are necessary to remedy it. S:US hosted a Clothing Giveaway at the Brooklyn Crisis Respite as part of the Urban Farms Wearable Donation Initiative, which provides essential wearable items to New Yorkers in need. Thanks to generous #donors and the hard work of our team, over 60 bags of clothing were sorted and distributed to individuals, families, and the community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!
