    If you need a Commonwealth statutory declaration, consider using your myGov account and your Digital ID! A digital stat dec is faster, just as legally valid, and you don’t need to find an approved witness. myGov has more information about this here: my.gov.au/statdec.

    Today marks the first anniversary of the digital Commonwealth statutory declaration service. In partnership with Services Australia and the Australian Government Department of Finance, we launched this digital solution last year to provide Australians with more choice and flexibility. Using myGov and your Digital ID, you can complete a Commonwealth statutory declaration entirely online. Key features of the digital service: ? No need to find an approved witness ? Easily create a digital statutory declaration using your mobile device ? Your data is protected by strong security and privacy measures Using the digital service is optional.   • Registering as an organ donor is quick and easy using your Medicare online account through myGov, via the myGov app, or through donatelife.gov.au. It only takes a minute! You can also add a digital copy of your organ donor card to your myGov app wallet. Check your organ and tissue donation preferences are up to date and remember to tell your family that you’ve registered so they know you want to be a donor.     Very few people have the chance to become an organ donor when they die. Here’s the break down in numbers ?? ?? Each year around 89,000 people die in Australian hospitals, but not everyone who dies can be considered for organ donation. ?? Last year only 1,630 people died in a way that organ donation could be considered. ? 767 of their families said yes to donation going ahead. ?? This resulted in 527 people becoming donors. With such a small number of potential donors, it’s so important to register as a donor and then have a conversation with your family so they know what you want at the end of your life.   • ‘All I knew was that I needed help, and I wasn’t sure how I was going to get it.’ This is often the reality when people experiencing vulnerability need help from government services. Some people don’t know about us or how we can support them. Visiting a service centre or calling might not be possible. This is where our Community Engagement Officers step in. They work directly with community organisations, meeting people where they feel safe and comfortable. Lauren works with a number of organisations across Sydney who support LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homophobia, transphobia, family violence and often homelessness. Fear of discrimination and judgement can often be a barrier to them accessing the support they need. One of these organisations is Twenty10 NSW Lauren helps bridge the gap for their clients, connecting them with our payments and services so they can live feeling supported and financially independent.
