Ribbon Cutting: New Kennel Adds 25% More Dogs To Be Adopted & Trained! Today C C Carlton Industries, Ltd. the ribbon on the new kennel building it donated and built to welcome our newly adopted shelter dogs. Christened “Muv’s House of Love” in memory of Craig Carlton’s mother, it will allow SDI to train 25% more Service Dogs for wounded veterans and other Texans living with disabilities throughout Texas, and Facility Dogs to support children in court and first responder mental health. “I would like to thank the employees of C. C. Carlton Industries, ROSCH Retaining Wall and all the people that contributed to make this happen so that we can help the special people of the world. And we always remember – be an ordinary person that does the extraordinary,” said Carlton. SDI trainers will now begin visiting animal shelters to adopt our next class of dogs for Service Dog training, thanks to this beautiful, state-of-the-art canine housing facility.

Join us in celebrating our newest graduate Hearing Dog Team: Julian Rodriguez and Camaro!?They aced their certification exam at a busy Whole Foods Market that was filled with shoppers. Once a shelter dog at the Houston SPCA, Camaro now alerts the Deaf USAF Veteran by touch and leads him to everyday essential sounds like his phone, the oven timer, and most importantly, his children calling for their dad. Help celebrate our newest Facility Dog team! We have matched Broadway with Chaplain Julie Harris with CHRISTUS Health Santa Rosa Hospital Westover Hills in San Antonio. The 3,000 hospital staff that Julie works with shoulder a lot of stress doing their best for patients around the clock. Broadway will open new doors to resiliency and improved mental health for these frontline workers, as well as their patients and their families. Our heartfelt gratitude to the Ruth C. & Charles S. Sharp Foundation for sponsoring Broadway and making this match possible that will impact thousands of lives! Up next: - 5-day Team Training class at SDI - We move Broadway home with Julie. - Our Trainer continues to work with them for three months of weekly in-home and public training sessions in San Antonio.

Our Founder and CEO Sheri Soltes made wonderful friends today when she presented to the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos about how we adopt shelter dogs and train them to transform the lives of people with significant challenges. With the Kiwanis’ focus on serving children, Sheri emphasized our Courthouse Facility Dogs that help children surviving trauma tell their stories in court. We love sharing our story about Service Dogs, Inc. with our community!

Deaf United States Air Force veteran Julian Rodriguez says he can be a better father thanks to his Hearing Dog Camaro from Service Dogs, Inc.. “Before Camaro, I struggled with even the little things that people often take for granted, like knowing when your children are calling your name," said Rodriguez. We adopted Camaro from the Houston SPCA and custom-trained him to alert Julian to the essential sounds in his life - completely free of charge!

Help us welcome 4 new Hearing Dog Teams! We train each Hearing Dog to alert their Deaf partners to essential everyday sounds including additional sounds they request. Next step: Clients return to SDI for our 5-Day Team Training class.
