Mercy Health’s very own, Samonyca Spillman, was recognized as a “Champion for Healthy Families.” As a former Mercy Serves AmeriCorps Member, Sam connected Emergency Department patients with substance use disorder to treatment. Mercy Serves also supported Sam in getting trained and certified as a #CommunityHealthWorker (CHW), which she now leverages as a CHW for Mercy Health’s Perinatal Outreach Program. The program empowers moms throughout their pregnancy and supports them to deliver healthy babies with joy and dignity. Sam does this day-in and day-out with passion, commitment to results, and by honoring the trust she builds with her clients. Congratulations to Sam (pictured second from left) and all the other Champions for Change! Thanks to Cradle Cincinnati and Hamilton County, Ohio Commissionners for this recognition. CC: ServeOhio
