I can't find any good help. Do young people just not want to work? Why are we teaching trades any more? If I just knew how to fix this! SHM is doing something about it with our Workmanship Program. Often young people WANT to work; they just don't know where or how. They haven't found the right opportunities. They need direction. That's where we come in. Proverbs 16:3 says: "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." This is exactly what our staff did! We took a day away from project sites, away from our offices, and spent time together praying, reflecting, and dedicating ourselves and our work to the Lord. All that we do is because of him. Our CPM students recently took a field trip to their facility and learned about soldering, installation, and fabrication of ductwork. RENOVATION PROJECT UPDATE! We posted a video about Bethel Church of God in Christ last month. Our teams continue the work in Hackensack. Take a look! Volunteers have made tremendous progress with demo. We've removed old wood and added fresh lumber all over. We're excited to make this space truly functional for their ministry. Today we had our largest ever field trip class from JFK High School! A total of 27 juniors and seniors joined us for an introduction to plumbing. These classes preview what our CPM students will be learning tonight. A big SHOUT OUT to our instructors this morning! BEHIND THE SCENES at SHM: Meet Deb Hoffman! Deb is one of a handful of people who work behind the scenes at Servant's Heart. As our Office Manager Deb keeps all our finances straight, chases us down for expense reports, and manages our payroll, trucking fleet, renovation applications and rental leases. She easily brightens every room with her smile, and we are so grateful to have her! If you happen to see Deb this week, give her a well-deserved high five. ????
