So thrilled to be able to spend this Rare Disease Day presenting to students, enrolled in an enrichment class, about what the Serenely Guided Foundation does as a nonprofit, what a rare disease is, the basics of genetic testing, clinical trials, as well as a look inside our recent blood drive and the importance of volunteering within the community. The questions and time spent by these students who wanted to learn more about rare disease were thoughtful and intentional. Everyone received an informational bag about rare diseases, as well as a Certificate of Completion for time spent learning. So very honored to spend the afternoon kicking-off our workshop series with these amazing students. Rare Disease Day #rarediseaseday #raredisease #rarediseaseawareness #studentworkshop444

Meet Sullivan! He’s our latest Community Service Award recipient and the heart of the Serenely Guided Foundation. Sully is a rare disease warrior diagnosed with HHT in 2024. HHT (Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia), is a rare blood vessel disorder. Sully is a Boston Children's Hospital patient at the Vascular Anomalies Center, and was genetically tested using GeneDx - Symptoms of HHT present themselves in childhood and increase in adulthood. Sully is in 6th grade and has been volunteering since the age of 4. He plays many sports, his favorite being football. ?? Sully is a wonderful example of someone who not only gives back to his community, but is kind, dedicated, determined, and goes above and beyond whatever goals are in front of him. Thank you to Sully for being a great example to others in middle school and for passing out flyers to promote our Rare Disease Awareness & Blood Drive Event on February 1st. #raredisease #rarekids #rarediseaseawareness #rarediseaseday #hht #rarewarrior #volunteer #communityservice

She’s currently in 8th grade and has been undergoing these treatments for nearly six years. What an amazing day meeting so many people within the Stoneham community who came out to donate blood for pediatric patients in need at Boston Children's Hospital. We worked with the dedicated team at the BCH Blood Donor Center to bring the Bloodmobile to Stoneham High School. Gratefully, we booked every time slot! Inside at registration, blood donors received a bag full of information on rare diseases and what local resources are available within their community. A very special thank you to WellSense Health Plan for sponsoring our event. *February 28th is Rare Disease Day! #rarediseaseday #rarediseaseawareness #blooddonor #blooddonation #givepintsforhalfpints
