Monday afternoon, a light in the RLL world went out. Our President, Chet Goodwin, passed away peacefully. There’s no template for a post to capture our admiration and love for Chet. It’s hard to get our minds to work when our hearts are breaking. Chet was a proud father, devoted friend, dedicated mentor, and so much more. For those of us in the RLL family, Chet was a leader who insisted that smart people be allowed to do their jobs unencumbered by bureaucracy and micromanagement. He listened, sought feedback, pushed back, and allowed people to learn, grow, and contribute. He advocated for innovative ideas and was known for his impeccable taste and great hair. Even amidst serious topics, Chet often broke the ice with humor, a well-timed witty comment, and laughter. He was a brilliant mind who insisted that those around him didn’t take themselves too seriously. Chet’s fingerprints are everywhere in RLL. Today, empowered team members go to work carrying the vision forward and telling our story while having fun because that’s the culture he encouraged as a leader. This loss has tilted the universe of Chet’s family and loved ones. Every member of the RLL family grieves with them and keeps them in their hearts. This news will no doubt come as a shock to many. New records! ?? CICA set two new records this year. For the second year in a row, CICA membership has been at a record high, this year with 560 members. This growth is mirrored by the #CICAconf24 numbers with a record 659 attendees, coming from 44 states and 43 offshore or international domiciles. We are also excited about CICA’s continued growth of our NEXTGen and Amplify Women? initiatives, and our Essay Contest. 46% of our speakers at this year’s conference are women, much higher than the insurance conference average of 30%.
