During my presentation yesterday at the Psychotherapy Associates Winter Symposium, I had the privilege of sharing how digital care is transforming substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, paving the way for more effective and accessible recovery solutions. I explored several key ways that technology is addressing the unique challenges of SUD treatment: ?? Highly Personalized Care – AI-driven platforms now make it possible to deliver personalized, trauma-informed care to a broader population, breaking down barriers to engagement. ?? Continuity – Through tools like daily virtual check-ins and robust post-discharge support, digital care seamlessly extends recovery efforts far beyond traditional touchpoints. ?? Holistic Solutions – By integrating emotional regulation techniques, fostering a sense of community, and offering tailored recovery pathways, digital solutions ensure a well-rounded approach to care. ?? Cost Efficiency – With innovative models, long-term support is becoming more affordable and sustainable for individuals and healthcare systems alike. One of the most important messages I emphasized is that digital care isn’t replacing the human connection that is central to recovery—it’s enhancing it. These tools fill critical gaps in care, complementing traditional methods and amplifying their impact. Just as medication-assisted treatment (MAT) once changed perspectives on recovery, digital care has the potential to shift the standard of care and improve outcomes for countless individuals. The slide above was from an experiential exercise where the incredible group discussed ways they could see digital care providing the new gold standard for those in recovery. It’s time to think bigger and bolder about what recovery can look like. Together, we can bridge the gaps, redefine the process, and turn the “ideal” treatment model into a reality. What are your thoughts on the role of digital care in recovery? I’d love to hear your perspectives below. #DigitalCare #AddictionRecovery #HealthcareInnovation

Next Monday at the Psychotherapy Associates Winter Symposium, join our CEO and Co-Founder Sarah Houy, MA, LPC, RYT, BCN for an illuminating session on how AI will empower (NOT replace) clinicians. #AIPositive

Come join me for skittles! Monday, January 20th, at 3:45, I’ll be presenting at the Psychotherapy Associates Winter Symposium, exploring an exciting and deeply misunderstood topic—how AI can empower, not replace, clinicians.? Artificial Intelligence often sparks equal parts fascination and fear in clinical settings. My presentation will educate, enlighten and empower those in the behavioral health community to be #AIPositive (you'll have to come to learn more about this!) Together, we’ll look at how Digital Care (Clinical AI + Specialized Clinical Conversational AI) can: 1. Reduce clinician burnout?? 2. Improve client outcomes?? 3. Break down barriers to care From personalized tracking and habit-building to real-time feedback, Digital Care offers ways to complement, not compete with, our work as therapists. Attendees will walk away with educational insights and possibilities for the future that will empower them to develop a healthy relationship with AI as it relates to clinical care. Join me for a hopeful and empowered vision of leveraging AI in clinical practice.? Already planning to attend? I’d love to see you there! Tomorrow, at 11 AM ET with Sarah Houy, MA, LPC, RYT, BCN and Adam Kaufman. Don’t miss it!

I am obviously deeply invested in rethinking how healthcare delivers value to both patients and providers. That’s a lot of what we try to crack at Sentur. So, of course, I’m thrilled to be co-hosting a roundtable discussion with Adam Kaufman, Senior Advisor at EVERSANA, long-term advocate of digital healtha and incredible advisor to some of the top healthcare organizations in the world. We will be exploring the opportunities and challenges that arise in joint efforts between Big Tech and Pharma. On one side, technology companies bring expertise in data analytics, AI, and consumer engagement. On the other, pharmaceutical companies offer unmatched knowledge of drug development, clinical applications, and regulatory expertise. Together, these fields could reshape drug discovery, clinical trials, and patient care. But the path to meaningful collaboration isn’t simple. Key questions remain: What successful models of partnership are emerging? How could these collaborations change patient care and drug development? What barriers—cultural, operational, or regulatory—must be addressed? So join me & Adam in trying to answer the big question: Big Tech and Pharma—Will They, Won’t They? Date: Tuesday, January 21 Time: 11 AM ET Hosted by: HLTH Inc. Online Let’s explore together. Apply to attend in the link in the comments. #HealthcareInnovation #AI #Pharma #PatientCare #BigTech

    Share your thoughts!

If you know me, you know I am all about fostering open dialog and collaboration. If you are a #therapist or #SUD facility administrator of any kind, I'd love to hear your insights below. In conversations with over 100 providers in the behavioral health space, the conversations continue regarding #AI. I am opening it up to a larger audience here. Because your voice matters, just as Rita Numerof, PhD and Rana el Kaliouby, Ph.D. share, it is vital for everyone to be brought along for the ride and be empowered, informed consumers and providers. (p.s. Patients, stay tuned- I'll have a poll just for you next week!) This is quite a shortlist (limited by LI :), so if there are barriers you are noticing, I welcome the conversation in the comments. Barriers I am also hearing from others include: - fear around not knowing what the AI will do - "black box" - how does it handle SI and HI conversations? - how are clinicians informed of safety issues? - Is it teaching clients bad habits? i.e., are they learning to develop fake relationships? - What if my client wants to say something to the clinical co-pilot that it doesn't want to say to me? - What if I don't have a job in a year? - What if AI makes therapists fat and lazy ( yes, this actually came out of a supervisor's mouth in a conference I was at - my jaw was on the floor, needless to say). - what if ????? And yet... Over 200 people will die today from substance use-related issues. Until that number changes, I will not be leaving the conversations. I am excited to present at Psychotherapy Associates Winter Symposium on Monday afternoon January 27th on how AI can empower, not replace, clinicians. Also, if you're in the field, I can save you $500 on a registration. DM for more details! I'd be grateful for a share to anyone in the behavioral health space as we are looking to collect 100 responses in the next 30 days! Namaste, Sarah

Some may say it's too ambitious. But to us, it's personal. 100 million lives are waiting...

This photo truly speaks to who we are at Sentur—a team that pours our whole heart into everything we do. I was teary-eyed looking at this, filled with profound gratitude to be part of such an exceptional team. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I don't want to miss a minute of it ??. Sentur lives a simple yet profound mission: to improve the lives of 100 million trauma survivors by 2040 through revolutionizing mental health care. Some may say it’s ambitious, but I bet I even get a few eye rolls at the above. But to us, it’s personal. Our journey is fueled by the belief that every person has the inherent capacity to heal, and we’re here to unlock that potential through cutting-edge technology, evidence-based trauma care, and a deep commitment to social impact. We may be a small team, but we’re mighty in vision, heart, and determination. Together, we’ve built a platform that provides transformative care to survivors around the globe and also empowers provider partners to deliver world-class outcomes through their incredible missions. Our story is not about "another AI tech company hoping on the bandwagon" because there are thousands out there right now (plus we started 5 years ago before ChatGPT, the pandemic, and self-driving cars as we see them now); it’s about hope, connection, and a better future for millions who have lived in the shadow of untreated trauma. We just happen to do that through technology-enabled solutions. Every session with Sofia (our AI guide), every conversation on our community pages, and every insight a survivor has about their inherent goodness brings us closer to that goal. To my incredible teammates, Faris Sweis, Matt Shuster, Teodor Dermendzhiev, Georgi Atanasov, Ivana Dimitrova, Christina I., Dimi Taslakov thank you for pouring your heart into this mission every single day. And to our partners, provider partners (Valiant Living, Spero Recovery Center, Real Deal Wellness, Well Mind, and Sentur community—thank you for believing in us. Together, we’re not just imagining change, but making it happen. Let’s keep going—100 million lives are waiting.

When reflecting back on the work we are doing at Sentur, even though the work falls under the overall healthcare industry, there is one big differentiation. When a drug is discovered and proven effective, it can easily be scaled to thousands of people. When a psychological intervention is discovered or proven effective, it cannot (TODAY) easily be scaled to thousands of people. Furthermore, to deliver an effective therapeutic intervention - at scale, you need to build the vehicle of engagement that the intervention sits on top of. Many focus solely on the intervention itself, overlooking the critical need to create an engagement model—the essential delivery mechanism that ensures its success. #HealthcareTransformation #ScalingTherapy

AI is THE hot topic right now. But in complex domains like behavioral health, it can also be a daunting one. Does it have to be that way? No. But we need to talk about the opportunities and challenges it presents openly and honestly. Earlier this week our Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Faris Sweis shared a view on the opportunities and challenges of building AI products in high-stakes contexts. He spoke in front of some of Bulgaria's top start-up and tech representatives at Капитал’s latest AI Masterclass co-produced with VertoDigital Here are three "Opportunity / Challenge" oppositions he shared from building the AI-driven Sentur Recovery: 1. Opportunity: Address Engagement with Personalization / Challenge: Ensure Privacy & Security Every interaction is an opportunity to better understand a user's unique needs and address them later on for a more engaging and useful experience. But ensuring privacy and security is an absolute non-negotiable if you want to comply with regulations and build and retain the trust of your users so that they can make the most out of your product. 2. Opportunity: Utilize Advanced Reasoning Engines / Challenge: Limit Hallucinations and Ensure Accuracy & Transparency AI can transform complex therapeutic frameworks into natural flows. But this comes with the risk of hallucinations - a challenge that requires transparent workflows, robust guardrails and human feedback loops to ensure the safety of your users. 3. Opportunity: Create Smooth Natural UX / Challenge: Address Mistrust of the Technology A conversational interface offers a seamless, intuitive experience. Yet, mistrust in AI-driven interactions remains a challenge, especially in complex domains. This challenge must be addressed by those who develop solutions through education and user-first design. Because gatekeeping benefits no one - neither us, the product builders, as it perpetuates the mistrust and makes user adoption harder; nor the users as it blocks them from experiencing the full benefit of a technology that can truly transform even some of the most complex domains. AI in behavioral health is more than just a tool - it’s a way to extend care, empower providers, and transform lives. But for that to happen we need to utilize it responsibly, intentionally, and with the end-user in mind. #BehavioralHealth #AI #MentalHealth #Sentur #HealthcareInnovation

Our healthcare system (inc. behavioral health) doesn't need a fix... it needs a TRANSFORMATION. I recently listened to Daisy Wolf and Vijay Pande from a16z Bio + Health in an episode of the Raising Health podcast discussing why tech must disrupt healthcare now. Something that Daisy Wolf said really stood out. “[...]A key reason consumer experience has been so horrible in health care [is the fact that] hospital systems [...] don't really see patients as their end customers because patients generally aren't paying for their care. The insurance company is, and so they're optimizing for the insurance company instead of the patient[...]. But what we think everyone has gotten wrong is that if you have amazing patient and consumer experiences, you can actually start to encourage behavior change[...].” This is especially true for behavioral health. The fragmented and frustrating patient journey (or customer experience) resulting in disengagement in behavioral health care bares dire consequences both to patients and providers. Take addiction treatment as an example. Treatment drop-off rates and subsequent relapse rates are staggering. The current system is barely able to get not even half of patients to recovery. With short treatment opportunity, so many transition points and opportunities to just give up... people often do. And in that context providers are more often than not overworked, burnt out, and forced to focus on the wrong things. Yet the system isn't designed to provide what is really needed - continuous care that is: > both preventative and supportive throughout the whole journey; > personalized to meet patients' specific needs to not only ensure a better experience but also a more impactful one; > developed together with the provider to help them deliver the best care they can. That is our direction at Sentur. And we believe clinical AI could be one way to provide all of that to meet the system's need for transformation and redirection back to the needs of patients and providers. It can help bridge gaps that are not just costly but also put lives in danger. Curious how exactly we are thinking about this? Reach out, I’d love to share what we are making possible in addiction treatment with Sentur Recovery. --------------------------------------------- Raising Health podcast episode: https://hubs.la/Q02YZ1xL0 #BehavioralHealth #AI #HealthcareInnovation #Sentur
