?? Sentinel Spotlight: Sam Schoenheit ?? After joining the Marine Corps in 2003, Sam served in elite units, including the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion and Marine Special Operations Command. During a combat operation in Afghanistan, Sam was critically wounded but never gave up. His journey from recovery to higher education exemplifies resilience. Thanks to Sentinels of Freedom, Sam earned his degree in History and Education, turning his focus to a new mission – supporting others in need. Following graduation, he worked with Homeland Security Investigations. Since then, he has returned to Tennessee and plans to teach high school history. His journey proves that veterans never stop serving Sam, we salute you! ?? Sentinel Spotlight: Daniel Calbi ?? Dan joined the U.S. Army as an officer, serving 6.5 years with the 2/75th Ranger Regiment, including 3 deployments to Afghanistan. After a TBI from an explosion in 2018, he faced challenges like migraines and memory issues but found support through friends, the VA, and Sentinels of Freedom (SoF). With SoF’s help, Dan attended Columbia University for his MBA, connected with fellow veterans, and received financial aid to navigate NYC’s high living costs. Post-graduation, he landed a role as an Investment Banking Associate at Goldman Sachs. Dan’s resilience and support system have been key to his success! ?? “SOF is a premier organization, that continually goes above and beyond to support wounded veterans. It is an honor and a privilege to be associated with such an impressive group of individuals. I look forward to being a Sentinel for life and for the opportunity to give back over the coming years.” Daniel’s story reminds us that with the right support, the possibilities are limitless.
