Join us for a night out at Insa, complete with Korean fried chicken, beer and soju, assorted drinking snacks, and karaoke! Come hang out with us at?Insa?for the second installment of our Cookbook Supper Club, an ongoing series featuring businesses?from our?James Beard-nominated?cookbook:?Made Here! We've curated a meal highlighting some of our favorite dishes, including the seafood corn dog featured in the cookbook. And of course, a night at Insa would not be complete without some (optional) open mic karaoke in the bar afterwards! On the menu: -Seafood corn dog bites* -Insa fried chicken* -Banchan spread (kimchi, potato salad, seaweed & pickles, 2 seasonal specials) -Crispy salad with chili vinaigrette -Japchae -Pitchers of beer and carafes of soju for the table** *vegetarian option: double-fried soy-garlic glazed broccoli, fried shiitake mushroom with kimchi honey (please select the General Admission - Vegetarian ticket type) **additional drinks available for purchase at the restaurant Note: This is a 21+ event. May marked an incredible APAHM for the SCL team! From marking the beginning of SCL’s running era with a 5K co-hosted with Chinatown Runners, to dominating our trivia event sponsored by?Coffee Meets Bagel?with our partners at?Shinka Ramen, we were able to raise $8200 and distribute 925 meals！ A big thank you to everyone who took part in SCL’s May programming - exciting events like these don’t just happen during APAHM, but year round, so keep your eyes peeled for future opportunities to engage with the SCL team and partners!

Come run with us and?Chinatown Runners! In celebration of APAHM we’ll be hitting the pavement with our friends from Chinatown Runners on a 5K loop starting at the new Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles III at 106 Bayard Street (corner of Baxter and Bayard) in Manhattan’s Chinatown. This event is open to all pace groups! We’ll have different pacing from 8 minute miles to 13 minute miles plus a walking group! Along the run the pacers will have a few stops to share some AAPI history. We’ve also partnered with our friends at Nha Trang and Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles to have meals ready for you at the conclusion of your run. We can’t wait to see you all on June 1st! Celebrate APAHM with us! We are hosting our second-annual trivia night fundraiser?at?Shinka Ramen & Sake Bar?on?Thursday, May 30th. Join us for a fun-filled night of friendly competition, with questions focused on AAPI history, culture, music, and food.?Trivia will be organized in teams of up to 4 (solo players welcome).?Dinner, consisting of family style appetizers and ramen, is included! We will also be raffling off prizes from Asian American-owned businesses!?A portion of your ticket proceeds will serve as a donation to Send Chinatown Love and will go towards supporting our community building efforts with NYC Chinatown's small businesses and restaurants. Trivia Night Returns!! As part of our initiatives for Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) 2024, Send Chinatown Love is hosting our second-annual trivia night at?Shinka Ramen & Sake Bar?on?Thursday, May 30?for a night of dinner and trivia! Join us for a fun-filled night of friendly competition, with questions focused on AAPI history, culture, music, and food. We will also be raffling off prizes from Asian American-owned businesses. Doors open and food will be served at 6:30 PM. We will start the trivia portion promptly at 7:30 PM. So arrive early and let’s get to the fun!

You're invited to our APAHM Supper Club tomorrow May 8th from 7 to 9 PM! Come on down to Elmhurst and dine at one of the featured restaurants from our?James Beard-nominated?cookbook:?Made Here!?We'll be dining on a custom menu designed by the team at Awang Kitchen. The prix fixe menu will be served family style at your table, tax and tip are included in the price. Our book, Made Here, was nominated for a James Beard Award! Thank you?The James Beard Foundation?for recognizing our labor of love in the U.S. Foodways category, among great company, exploring how diaspora and immigrant pathways help drive and shape cuisine and culture. Our goal with Made Here was to capture the peerless diversity of New York City’s Asian culinary landscape, and also the inevitable cross-pollination that occurs in this pressure cooker of forced proximity and learned familiarity. We’re incredibly proud to be the only self-published book to receive a nomination this year, a decision we made to ensure as much of the funds raised by the book go back to the communities its stories tell. Thank you to everybody who contributed, gave feedback and praise, made space for us to vent or celebrate, and worked tirelessly to bring this book to life ??
