Today, I want to call out an?extraordinary?Air Traffic Controller (ATC),?Jenn. I don’t know Jenn personally— but she is my friend’s colleague in Houston. The job she and her fellow air traffic controllers do every day is truly remarkable. Most people acknowledge that ATC is a critical job—one we?all?rely on without a second thought. Every day, millions of people board flights, assuming?the system will work flawlessly—that skilled professionals will guide them safely through the skies.?We trust them implicitly, yet rarely think about them. Right now, more than ever, we need to?support?men and women like Jenn.?They don’t need more distractions or additional stress. Their job is stressful enough. We?ask so much of them—and like many others in public service, they?serve our country?in a way that allows each of us to move freely across this incredible nation. Take just?one second?to?look at your calendar?for the next month or two. Think about the events you’re planning to attend—the work trips, the vacations, the family reunions. In just a few months,?graduation season will be here—how many people will?click a button, buy a plane ticket, and fly across the country?without hesitation to witness a milestone moment? But what if ATCs weren’t there? Would you drive instead? Would you need to take?3-4 extra days off?to get to your destination and 3 days back? What would that do to your holiday leave? Your work schedule? Your family plans? These men and women are?under contract—just like many other government employees. They?don’t have the option to walk away.?They have signed contracts that keep air travel?running, no matter what. Our?economy depends on it. Most people’s jobs depend on it. Your families depend on it. We need to be?standing up?for this group of patriots. They already have?one of the most high-pressure jobs in the world, and the ongoing distractions and uncertainty only make it harder for them to do their jobs?safely and effectively. Like most civil servants, they?don’t do it for recognition.?They don’t do it for?money or fame.?They do it because they believe in?service—in making sure every aircraft in their airspace gets?home safely, every single day. I am so grateful for?people like Jenn?and my friend Deedra Norwood who dedicate themselves to this work. I hope you take 15 mins out of your day and listen. This is just a glimpse of how important it is for all of us to support our Air Traffic Controllers. Watch this clip: https://lnkd.in/esZrCu_R
