Big news in southeast Missouri! We're proud to announce that Amazon is opening a distribution center in Scott City at the SEMO Industrial Park. Helping connect students at Southeast Missouri State University with area businesses is an important part of our mission at SEMO REDI. Earlier this week, we hosted an event for regional business leaders who met with 30+ incredible students at the Buckner-Ragsdale Event Center. And incredible they were. These students showed up early, dressed to impress, networked like professionals, and reminded all of us how important it is to keep as many of these talented men and women in southeast Missouri as we can.

Congratulations to Alisha Trammell, Executive Director of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce and Lori Dunlap, Project Manager, Southeast Region, Missouri Department of Economic Development for being two of the newest Missouri Certified Economic Developers in the state! Their investment in professional development is a win for all of us in southeast Missouri.

Missouri Partnership team members recently joined us on a tour of the Semo Port. Located on the Mississippi River midway between St. Louis and Memphis, the Port can accommodate all major barge services, has access to UP and BNSF railroads, and is just 3 miles from Interstate 55 and the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. The Port plays a critical role in the southeast Missouri economy and we were proud to show it off. Thanks to G. Subash Alias and Sal Maniaci for coming to southeast Missouri and Cary Harbison and Mandi Brink for the tour.
