January 2025 global #semiconductor sales were $56.5 billion, an increase of 17.9% compared to the January 2024 total of $47.9 billion. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the U.S. this week, SIA CEO John Neuffer is pleased to chat this morning with Parikshit Luthra of CNBC-TV18 to discuss the importance of strengthening U.S.-India collaboration in the global #semiconductor supply chain.

Global 2024 #semiconductor sales were $627.6 billion, an increase of 19.1% compared to 2023 and the highest-ever yearly sales total. This marks the first time global sales have exceeded $600 billion, and?double-digit market growth is projected for 2025. Sales of logic products totaled $212.6 billion in 2024, making it the largest product category by sales. Memory products were second in terms of sales, increasing by 78.9% in 2024 to a total of $165.1 billion. DRAM products, a subset of memory, recorded an 82.6% sales increase, the largest percentage growth of any product category in 2024. ? Read our full announcement here:?https://lnkd.in/eVTeiRnP

The Semiconductor Technology Advancement and Research (STAR) Act introduced today would bolster the U.S. economy, national security, and supply chain resilience by promoting investment in domestic #semiconductor manufacturing and design. The legislation includes two crucial provisions: the?extension?of the CHIPS Act’s advanced manufacturing investment credit (AMIC), and the?expansion?of eligibility to include design and other critical R&D expenditures.? ? The AMIC has proven to be a powerful incentive for investment in chip fabrication and packaging. It has helped attract $450 billion in private investment and put the U.S. on track to more than triple domestic chip manufacturing capacity by 2032, the largest percentage increase in the world. By expanding coverage of the credit to include chip design—the research-intensive mapping of a chip’s intricate circuitry and functionality—the STAR Act would ensure the U.S. secures the economic, national security, and first-mover advantages of being the global leader in semiconductor technology. ? At a time when global competitors are making historic investments in their own chip ecosystems, we urge Congress to pass the STAR Act to help America win the chip race, enhance our economic and national security, and reinforce U.S. semiconductor leadership for years to come. #WinTheChipRace ?
