Having a digital twin for your machine, workholding, and tooling is insanely valuable to getting setups going quickly. Christopher Zappettini is back in LA putting the final touches on this Matsuura Machinery USA, Inc. project. In a previous post we talked about designing and building the fixtures plus programming and setting up the part. One of the tools we use (besides Solidworks and Mastercam) to help with the setup is CAMplete Solutions Inc. - CAMplete TruePath CAMplete lets us do a full kinematic simulation of our exact setup. before we even cut chip it will show us if there are going to be any problems. The best part about that is it’s also a post processor. If it runs in CAMplete it will run in real-life. The caveat to this is having as exact a digital twin as possible. What is this? Everything in the real world should match the digital world as close as possible to 100% match. This will ensure that you won’t run into any “gotcha” scenarios when you’re on the machine. On this particular project it’s been incredibly handy on the horizontal. Machining on the other side of the universe can be scary or rotating in weird spots. But this tool gives us a lot of confidence when we push the green button. This is where I would like to shoutout both James Meyette and Michael Kaminski Jr. both of these guys have been valuable resources to my learning and implementation of CAMplete.
