In honor of Global Recycling Day today, we are looking back to last year at three differentiators that made an environmental impact focusing on reducing, reusing, and recycling to help save the planet.???? The LEED Gold certified Seattle Storm Center for Basketball Performance achieved over a 40% reduction in embodied carbon through innovative low-carbon concrete mixes, including up to 80% slag in the tilt-up walls. Collaborative scheduling allowed for longer cure times, further minimizing environmental impact. The CornerStone building in Fremont is Sellen’s first Living Building Challenge project and multi-level mass timber structure, featuring CLT, DLT, and glulam components. This sustainable approach reduces embodied carbon, supports local material sourcing, and promotes tenant health and well-being while providing schedule efficiencies. Sellen signed The Climate Pledge in 2024, targeting net zero carbon emissions by 2040. Now that we have a better understanding of our industry’s impact, we believe Sellen and our peers must take immediate action to reduce our carbon emissions. Looking back at one of our most remarkable projects – The Spheres, a striking collaboration with our talented project partners, right here in our hometown of #Seattle. ? This project started with a bold vision to merge nature and the workplace and evolved into a world-class destination. With over 40,000 plants and innovative glass and steel design, it’s an example of what happens when diverse teams unite toward a common goal. ? As part of the team, we faced challenges that pushed the limits of what’s possible, from designing a unique structural system to navigating the complex transportation of a massive 30,000-pound tree. Every obstacle was an opportunity to innovate. ? Today, The Spheres are a shining example of what we can achieve, and they’ve become an iconic part of Seattle’s skyline, a landmark in our home city. Our final spotlight is Director of Healthcare Shanna Dennis! With over 18 years of expertise in healthcare project delivery and 24 years of industry experience, Director of Healthcare Shanna Dennis is a driving force behind Sellen’s work in hospitals and clinics throughout the region. Shanna was the first woman promoted to senior project manager at Sellen and made history again last year as the company’s first market leader when she was appointed director of healthcare. In this role, she oversees all of Sellen’s healthcare projects and leads a team of healthcare project managers, ensuring each project benefits from her deep well of knowledge and experience. Things are looking up! Bellevue 600 is on track to be the tallest building in downtown Bellevue, towering at 43 stories of office and mixed-use space with a six-story garage below.?To date Cochran’s electrical work includes approximately 400,000LF of conduit and 1,950,000LF of MC cable and wire. The technology scope spans over a million square feet, involving 12,000+ labor hours for AV, corporate network, fiber optic, and DAS infrastructure. This includes 260,000 feet of low-voltage cabling for AV/CorpNet systems, 33,865+ feet of fiber backbone, and 35,335+ feet of DAS cabling across 50 IDF closets. The DAS system integrates ERRCS, UHF, and NH distribution with 511 antennas and 1,090 splitters. Security systems feature 300,000 feet of low-voltage cabling, 61 access control hubs, 182 controlled entry points, 81 monitored security points, and 564 surveillance cameras to ensure comprehensive safety across the complex.
